View Full Version : Battery! What types of classes is the inmate expected to take after released??? MamaSheila 04-18-2006, 12:13 PM Does anyone know? mrsdragoness 04-18-2006, 12:22 PM What state? Does he have specific classes that he is being told to take when he is released? Sorry for the questions, but different states have different rules about after incarceration classes, etc. Is he going up for parole soon? If he is paroled they will tell him whats required. If you can give us a little more information, we can help you a bit more! mrsd Sunnie 04-18-2006, 06:09 PM If it's from California Sheila then normally he takes the 52 week anger management classes. Normally this is court ordered from the court. Here's an example of what I am talking about. http://grandjury.countyofventura.org/Reports/04-05/angermgmt.pdf This is Ventura. But in northern cal it's similar to the same thing. If you call Stand, or the national hotline for Domestic violence.http://crisis-support.org/ or http://www.ndvh.org/ Ask them about what classes in anger management they offer for the batterer. Some places such as family stress and a crisis stress center might offer the classes as well and it's at lower costs. Be sure that you ask them if they comply with the court appointed mandated classes, that he is required to complete if he is. The anger management classes are also good for anyone even if it's NOT court ordered. It would not hurt to learn coping skills to deal with anger, instead of taking it out on those they love and care about. Good luck! If you need more help, I am sure that someone will be along who can offer better advice... MamaSheila 04-22-2006, 05:06 PM Alright. Thanks for the info. I will call and see what all it entails. Thanks again girls. Sheila California Sunshine 04-22-2006, 05:13 PM My ex had to do the 52 week anger management class upon his release okie 05-29-2006, 02:52 PM Even though my father didn't comply he was ordered to do anger management/domestic violence classes- was to attend a AA meeting everyday and was to attend parenting classes because there were children in the home. That was in California. Good luck;) . RMDILUV 08-30-2006, 04:14 PM What if the DA droped the asault charge and is only in there for terorist threats would he have to go to classes? cuddleadict 06-01-2007, 07:36 PM Dependant upon the state and the type of release. If on parole or probation he may be required to take anger management, AA and other classes if it is a full release they can not make him take anything. meganlea 06-01-2007, 07:41 PM I've seen many have to also take parenting classes if kids witness the incident or are victims as well. |
