I looked on the Corrections Canada site and I could not find when one is eligible for work release. Does anyone know how much of the sentence must be served before an inmate is eligible? I very well could have been totally flaking when I was reading and maybe it was right in front of me but I thought I would throw this out there for any who might have answers!

I'm assuming work release and day parole are the same thing - eligibility is after serving 1/6 of the sentence. Full parole is after 1/3.

On a two year sentence for example, you'll spend 60-90 days in reception, if you make it directly to camp, after 30 days in camp you are eligible to apply for passes.
It differs greatly, what province you are in, what Federal Corrections region, and what camp you are in. Work releases used to be very common, but are becoming very rare of late.
Failing that, there are still work crews, and day passes from some camps, and early release at 1/6 of sentence (must serve minimum of 6 months).
