Ok-so my boyfriend is in CCC & he gets to call everyday. How many of you use MCI? And how many use another company? And how can I get it set up? Do any of you have a seperate phone line for his calls? and how is that working out? Just wondering before I choose! :D Thanks ladies!

Hello , My Man Is In H.d.s.p. I Use The P.c.o That Pops On Here Once In Awhile . Since We Have A Block On My House Phone, And Everyone Is Always On The Phone.so I TalkED To The People At P.c.o. They Are Very Helpful, Now I Can Get His Phone Calls Transfered To My Cell Phone.all I Worry Abouit Is My MINUtes, And The Montly Charge Which Isnt Much, BUT He Is Worth All The Airtime, You Can Check Them Out. Good Luck On What You Choose...

Hi! :D Well, you HAVE TO USE MCI. I know it sucks, but MCI is going to make you set up a "Correctional Services" account with them. It may take awhile for them to get around to you (it took about 3 or 4 months of receiving calls from a prison for them to call me) but when they do you must set up the account or else they will BLOCK YOUR PHONE LINE! No joke. You will have a limit of $100. If you reach the $100 limit your line will be blocked until you add money to your account. You can pay as much as you like but I like to pay it all off once I get to about an $85 balance. I don't want to risk missing a call from my baby! ;) Like I said, you have to wait for MCI to contact you, you cannot set up the account on your own. They want you to wait until they get around to your phone number.

Also, I got William his own phone line. :) He is the only person who has that phone number. So if the phone rings (even though I have caller id :p ) I know it is him and no one else will ever tie up that line. William calls me atleast once a day and twice or three times a day on the weekends. It costs me about $200 dollars (or more) a month just for the MCI charges. The phone line costs an extra $34-$40 per month. But my man is worth every cent!

Well Aisha i use P.C.O i posted the letter here on one of the forums when i first joined ..The set up charge i think is different with everyone im not sure if they base it where u live or not but i payed 100.00 to join and they put 30.00 towards the phone time..You get charged a monthly fee(which i cant remember what it was but its afforfable..maybe like 50.00) and its a prepay so u set up a paypal acct and u just make your payments on there..I get charged 4.60 for the hook up charge(thats when YOU pick up the phone) and a few cents per minute..I havent had no complaints but u make sure that you always have money on the acct otherwise your call does not get connected and they STILL charge you a .10 fee(Well atleast with me) even tho u dont pick up the phone..So just make sure that u have money in there........ and you are all good girlie

Miriam, you metioned calls getting transffered to your cell phone? Is that possible with everyone? My boyfriend also said something about that, and that would be VERY great for me, because I live in TWO places basically! (My parents, and his parents) So does anyone know if thats possible for everyone?

I set up my land line phone for call forwarding and MCI said that if I get caught with call forwarding on my line when my man tries to call me collect, the prison will permanently block the phone number. So, I had it removed. Has anyone else been told this? Also, I checked out PCO a long time ago but I save more money using MCI than setting up an account with PCO, so it depends on where you live. You might save more on just going with MCI. Thanks for the info on CALL ASAP. I'm gonna check that out. My man hasn't been able to call me on my cell phone since he's been at HDSP.

i had the same problem with mci. and for pco i only pay $26.00 a month, the set upfee was $100.00 and the remainder went towards my calls.this works for me , since he only calls once a week,he said he didnt want to get hooked on calling more than that. you can also add more money if you like. i get about 6 calls with no worries.and it goes to my cell phone.

I personally did not like using PCO for the fact that I was getting charged the 10 cents when I did not answer. Every cent counts. I however do love using MCI and they have been very helpful and no problems. There is a number you can call and won't have to wait for them to call you back. I will look for it and post it with in the next couple of days.

I used to have the calls forwarded to my cell phone when my best friend was at Chowchilla. They used MCI too, I had MCI and call forwarding on my regular phone, some how they missed billing me for the calls :) I alway thought it had to do with the call forwarding. Maybe that is why MCI is saying that. I don't know. Did anyone else ever have calls that were forwarded to their cell phones through MCI not billed??

My MCI calls are fowarded to my cell phone but I still get charged. The number being charged is the ground line, not the cell phone. Cause the inmate dials the ground line number. So who knows why you were never charged MikesSis.

WilliamsBabyand MikesSis,
So you had call forwarding set up on your land line (SBC?) and MCI didn't block your number when it was forwarded to your cell phone? I took off call forwarding because mci told me they would block my phone permanently if I had call forwarding on it. So, they just told me a lie? They just don't want to lose money on having my call forwarded? I need help on this because I'm really busy these days(more so than the usual busy :) )
and I won't be at home alot for him to call me. I want him to be able to call me on my cell during those times. Thanks for all your help in advance.

Eye,
My phone fowards all calls to my cell. But I am still charged the same that I was charged when the calls were going to the land line. I am not charged extra on my cell phone (just for the minutes of course). From what I know it is perfectly ok to do this. When the rep. at AT&T set up the call fowarding for me, he said I could foward all calls to my cell. And the collect calls come through just fine. MCI is still getting paid the same amount so I don't see why there would be a problem. Try it out EYE, I think you were mis-informed by someone at MCI or they were just trying to scare you. I don't know the reason, but I have not had any problems yet.

I have SBC for my house phone. My man can't call because he is in reception, but he has one of his friends (who is an inmate worker and works down by him) call me and give me messages from my man. I have call forwarding to my cell too, and get my calls A-OK! The collect calls do come from MCI. I would try it, and see what happens.
