Hello everyone! I wanted to share all my joy & excitment with everyone & tell everyone our trip to CCC this Sunday was great! We left at 3:30am and arrived in Susanville at 7:30. The roads we're very scary on 36, you actually couldn't see the roads around 4:30am :( But my father in law did his best!

Our visit was amazing! My boyfriend finally got to hold our daughter for the first time! She is 5 months old & she loved playing with him & kept reaching for him :) He felt really good & he enjoyed her soooooooo much! It was so much fun. I can't wait to go back :D He said he is able to call everyday, and might be eligibale for fire camp.
Anyways, just wanted to share this with everyone! If you are thinking of going to visit for the first time, YOU NEED TO GO. It's so great!

P.S. - They made me change my shirt, which was TOTALLY apporpriate compared to what another woman was wearing :angry:

Awww...congrats!!!! Thats a good thing that your daughter was happy with him, sometimes babies don't react like that when they are with someone they aren't use to!!! What kind of shirt did you wear??

I wore a black sweater shirt and it was short on me, so underneath I wore a tahnk top that was longer so it would look nice with the black. THEN they let a woman go in their with TIGHT blue sweat pants & a GREY TIGHT SHIRT & FLIP FLOPS!!! That is basically what i wear, but I knew they wouldn't let me in, but they let her in I couldn't believe it.

I am glad that he got to hold her and that you got to visit.
I know the weather was awfull.
My husband found out that you could wear sweats and wanted to change.
Of course he never stays more than a couple of hours, he goes to the truck and naps, and smokes.

I am so happy for you that the visit went well and you enjoyed it. I hate 36 and always try and take I-80. Other then the shirt I am so happy for you and I hope you will enjoy the next one and so on as much as you did the first. :)

I hope my first visit with my son is as exciting as yours!! I am happy for you.

That is so cool my son is 7 months and his dad hasn't held him in 5 months so i am going to try to go to see him atleast once or twice while he is there buut it is too long of a drive with just my baby and me so i will just keep the lines clear, that is wonderful that you had a nice visit.

I'm glad you had a nice visit. Aren't they great! I've made 2 trips up to HDSP now. I think it will get even better with time. Or am I mistaken? What does everyone think? Let me know. I spoke to someone one time who told me it never gets easier. I hope that's not true.

I think it will get better....mainly because every time you go, he is closer to coming home! So thats what woman should think when they visit...like "oh this is all going to be real...soon!" Thats what I was thinking :D

My first visit was reallllllllllly hard because it was like saying goodbye all over again:( But I do think that with time it will get easier because if you are like me that I can only go up there like once a month you start to think like "Dang I only have to make this trip 15 more times and then he will get to come home with me for good!!!! And if he goes back in he is on his own!!!!!!! I am sorry but I love my life and I will not put myself through this pain again, once should be enough for him to learn his lesson. Besides that I am too young to deal with this again:D But I do love him and he knows that I will be by his side but he needs to do his part just like I have to do mine.

That's exactly how I feel Sanchez06 and I put mine on notice as well. It's cool to hear someone say the exact thing I'm feeling/thinking.

DITTO! I believe it gets better! I know it has for us. The first visit was very hard and subsequent ones were also. It has gotten better because we are now focused on him coming home!
