My husband went to prison almost 4 years ago. When he was arrested, he did not have a ring on. I wanted to know if anyone had any info on whether or not I could send him one? I know I could ask him, however, I wanted to surprise him. Or should I just bite the bullet and call the facility? (I hate calling them because I don't like the drama one wrongly asked question or taboo'd subject could bring my baby)

He will have to know about it. He will have to be the one to complete the paperwork to have it sent in. Since it is a wedding band, it would be no big deal. He would just need to go to the appropiate staff member for authorization (this would either be the Chaplain or the Unit Manager - depending on the institution).

Call the facility to be sure.

Make sure there are no stones in it ie: sapphires or diamonds as they will not let him have it if there is. Sont know why but that is what I was told. Mine had on a diamond band and he had to put that in his personal property for me to pick up.

What is the official policy on receiving wedding bands while in prison?

The inmate must submit form BP-331 for approval, which is valid for 60 days. The wedding band must be plain and contain no stones.

The wedding band has to be plain, to keep an inmate (or some other inmate) taking the stones out and bartering with them. Zelda

No no price limit but of course I would not want to take anything too expensive...when I was incarcerated my hubby just went out and bought me a $50.00 band just so I could wear there and when I got home I put my diamond back on
