Can anyone help me???? Lee is leaving to susanville today, and I was wondering if any one could help me with any kind of information on susanville. Here are some questions I have. Is there any airports near susanville? Do I have to feel out another visiting form? How long are the contact visit? Is there any motels near the camp? How long does the training for firecamp take? Has anyone gotten married in susanville? How long did that process take? And how much of their time did they actually do? If anyone can please help I want to go see him as soon as I can. Thank you so much for any information you might have!

The nearest airport is Reno Int'l Airport. From there you have to rent a car then drive 85 miles -1 1/2 hr drive. There's a lot of motels when you reach the city of Susanville. I don't think you have to fill up another form for visitation. My fiance is in California Correctional Center and contact visits are from 2 to 8:30 on friday and 8 to 2:30 on sat and sundays. firecamps that i have no info for you. sorry but for sure someone will be able to help you.

I used to fly with American but now they are expensive, try Southwest. The car rentals will be before you exit the airport - it's right there you won't miss it. I suggest you come when it's still bright because it is so dark in the 395 freeway. And the motels, I always stay at Best Western very clean and safe and just a 10 min. drive to the prison. Hope this helps. Good luck to you and be safe.

Hi There Bonnie!
Greetings from Susanville!..LOL . As Matyryl said, the Best western is nice, and clean too. As for me, I live so close to the prison, it is my night light...literally. As I understand, you will need another form. They are usually pretty quick in approving them here..As for the marriage, you need for your guy to request a marriage packet and send it asap, if you want to do it soon. They give you a date, and make sure you send all the neccessary documents, and include any divorce papers, as they do check into every detail, here at least....All motels are in town, and basically the same distance from the prison..If you need any more info, please feel free to PM me and ask away. Here is the number to CCC for you to call, if you need to, the phone hours for the visiting office are Tues & Thurs from 1 to 4 ...(530) 257-2181 EXT. 4119. and always call before you leave, they LOVE to lockdown , and many times people come from far away, and cant get in. So, always call, and if the message isnt updated, just stay on the phone , or press O and get a live person, they dont always like when we do that, but its the only way to get an accurate account of what the status is sometimes...Good luck! :)

Hi everyone.

I'm pretty new here and still learning the ropes about the system, and I've been reading all you guy's posts about everything so I can pass on any information that may be rumored there but fact or at least clearer out here. My husband is in CCC Susanville waiting to go to physical fitness training. Last time I called up there (10 hours north of me), the message said the last friday to visit would be the end of this month (January 2004), but now the message doesn't say that they are taking away Fridays. Are they still doing that, and also, the message said that Sierra Yard was in lockdown. Should I worry? I don't plan on visiting him until valentine's day, so I figure they won't be in lockdown for a month, but how long do they stay locked down, and for what reasons? Fights, I would imagine.

One other question: they say they take 33% out of his money sent to him for "restitution." Who is that paid to? The state or the victim? I was the "victim" in our domestic, but he went there for a probation violation and I'm allowed to see him (thank God!).

Anything you guys can tell me will be welcome. :-)

my husband is in ccc , and the 33% goes to the state....your fiance was given a restitution amount at his sentencing...this is what the money goes to . my husband was given a 600 dollar restitution...the amount varies. hope this helps.

Thanks for the help, Day.

I called his counselor and found out there was a fight between "blacks and South Hispanics," and that he's okay. He's half Hispanic, but listed as "white," so maybe he was able to stay out of it. They did say that he's not "locked up," but is "locked down," and that it could be up to two weeks or a month for it to get back to normal.

What vendor do you use to send packages to Susanville? Walkenhorts is taking forever and I'm thinking of canceling my order and ordering a bigger package from another company. I remember my husband said there were three vendors to choose from... .

Thanks again. :-)

I have used Walkenhorts to send things to my fiance. I think it took like 3 weeks, but he did eventually get them.

He's in CCC, Susanville. I've only been there once, last October. I want to visit again real soon, but I'm waiting for the snow to calm down. I live 5 1/2 hours away. I really miss him alot. And with this lockdown, who knows when he'll call again.

Woah, quite a few people who have loved ones in CCC! Nice to know that! =)
I have ordered a few packages from Walkenhorsts. My husband told me they only allowed to receive one package per month.
As for having to send another visiting form, you shouldn't have to. If you were previously approved at another facility, it should be good for any other CA facility. My husband went to Wasco first, then to Susanville. I only had to fill one form.
Yeah, definitely call before you drive/fly out there! The first time I went to CCC, my husband was on lockdown! I will be taking the Love Bus on the 20th to go see him again and hopefully that will go well. they charge 165 dollars and you have to stay at Super 8 for one night (about 50 bucks a night). You get to visit Saturday and Sunday. I don't think they have any more visits on Fridays anymore. I heard it on their recording.
Oh yeah, it is very cold out there, so dress warmly!

Hiya.

As of right now Lassen Yard (Whites and Southern Hispanics) are on lockdown, and all others are able to visit, according to the recording and the visiting person who always is very helpful there. I did talk to my husband's counselor just now, though, and he said that my husband was on lockdown (he's white and on Sierra yard). I told him that the visiting lady said he could visit, and he said that they are running a "modified program" right now to see how the tension goes and that she's probably right then and that he will be able to visit. There seems to be some confusion there right now, so I'd call before you leave, for sure. I'm not planning on going until Valentine's day, so I figure that either he'll be on normal status or the whole thing will start all over again (God forbid). That's what the counselor said, too. He said the different groups starting grouping up again as soon as they let them off lockdown, so they are watching closely. Also, there's a temporary restriction on my husband visiting our son, but the counselor told me that some rules have changed, and to have my husband come in to see him and maybe that could be lifted! I hope he's able to call soon so that I can tell him that. Our son misses him sooooo much and has dreams about him being at one end of a long dark tunnel and when my son tries to get to him his dad disappears! How sad is that? He listens to the answering machine messages over and over again just to hear his voice, and sleeps with his picture in his pillowcase. God is great, and I pray that he will allow us to visit as a family very soon.

Hi Everyone...
Very new to this here...Been reading a lot of posts lately which are all very helpful....My loved one at at CCC in Susanville waiting for a work assignment and placement at a firecamp....Unfortunately I the paperwork for my visitation wasn't approved before he was transferred from DVI therefore I had to start all over again per the info. lady at CCC (She was VERY helpful) Also I have been able to get messages to my man through his councelor, again, VERY helpful, she actually spoke to me like a human being! What a change! She informed me that untill he gets a work assignment that he is only allowed 1 phone call a week..Just FYI if there's anyone else in the same situation. You all seem to be right on top of things and I look forward to reading all the input....Good Luck to you and your loved ones!

Hi Day. About the vendor packages, visit http://www.californiaqp.com. The prices are reasonable and no shipping charges. Marvin sent me an order form and check the things that he wanted. I just went to the website and ordered it there.

Hi Everyone~
Got some great news yesterday from CCC in Susanville, I was approved and am now on my mans visitor list! So guess where I'm headed tomorrow afternoon? I may or may not get me weekly call from him today. if not will he be surprised or what? I haven't seen him in almost 8 weeks since he was transferred from DVI. It's about a 5.5-6 hour drive for me but well worth every mile I think! Wish me luck and no lockdown!!

Hope no-one went to CCC with any one in Lassen yard/white...They were all locked down this weekend..Fortunately mine is in Cascade/Sierra yard and I was able to visit both days....The C/O's seemed to be in a pretty good mood and they did finally let us out in the yard...(the heater inside the visiting area was broke so it was like an oven in there) We had a wonderful visit, my man loks so healthy, he already had a very hard body but he's been working out so he will pass the PFT for firefighter camp and all I can say is he looked DAMN FINE...I met some very nice ladies, all extremely nice and very helpful...Funny though some of the rules that CCC has on their website aren't enforced and some were that weren't even posted....I would however remind everyone who visits there to remove your jewelry before going through the metal detector, it just held up the rest of us on Staurday and our loved ones weren't brought in till after 9:00...Also dont forget to get your FOOD when you first get there, it GOES FAST. I know some of the ladies who read this site and I want to thank you all for answering all my first timer questions while I was in line Saturday.....I'll be going again next month and will keep ya posted...
A VERY HAPPY LADY TODAY~

thanks to everyone for your help you guys are all so wonderful. My mother-in-law got a letter from him yesterday so now she's not worried anymore just sad because he is I guess depressed knowing that he is so far away and that we probably won't be able to visit. We are all the way in the L.A. area. Well thanks again. Any info would always be appreciated. I will also pass the message along to her about calling and asking for his counselor.

Just in case, the number there is : 1-530-257-2181...I have SOME knowledge about CCC, but it is pretty much limited to Sierra / Cascade yard so anytime you want to PM me, please do. I can give tou info. on quarterly packages, special packages, phone calls, what to expect if you visit etc....Good luck to you & your loved one.

Thank you I am not sure what yard he is on I only know the housing that is on the mail that my mother-in-law gets which says CA10-14up. Does the CA stand for Cascade? I'm thinking maybe it does. I will probably be PMing you in the future when it comes time for my mother-in-law to send package. How does your loved one like the vendor packages? Personally when my man was in jail I liked being able to personalize what I sent to him, but my mother-in-law says she thinks it will be much easier for her to just pay the money and have someone else take care of it. But I can't blame her. It's not her man it's her son. Anyways thanks again.

Have a good time!Wish I was going, too. :-)

Right now the Northern and Southern Hispanics are on lockdown on Lassen and Sierra Yards, though, so I hope your loved one is available for visits. You can call 1-800-374-8474 and get lockdown information. I hope they will all be off of lockdown by then. My honey is not listed as hispanic, but as "white," but I haven't heard from him lately.

Anyway, have a really good trip! Are you driving? I always do because I never know when they will do a lockdown. Now with fuel prices going so high... . Well, God will get us through.

Have a wonderful Easter, and don't let them cut your visit short. If there's a lot of people they will start pulling those people who live closest and/or have visited within the last 30 days. At least that's what happened on Valentine's Day weekend.

Mine is in the Sierra / Cascade yard and listed as white so so far I'm not too concerned. <crossing fingers>. I haven't visited in the last 30 days, well 28 really,,,LOL and I do drive almost 4.5-5 hours to get there....I go 99 to 80 and 80 to 395...it's all highway driving and the last time I made it in 4 hours with a short gas stop...I've been checking the lockdown status and will continue to do so...No use driving for nothing BUT so far so good (for us). I talked to my man on Thursday and things are pretty well for him <again crossing fingers>. I plan on going up Sat. AM and waiting outside the grounds as the C/O's have been pretty strict about that lately, we weren't allowed on b4 7:40, then it was a mad dash,,,lol. If you go have a safe trip. Let's pray no lockdown :)

Good Morning All...
To all my friends that read this thread, and all the ladies I've met at CCC I just wanted to tell you all what a wonderful visit I had Easter weekend! A little crowded Sunday as to be expected BUT the visitation office was really on their toes and things went extremely smooth! I was in with my man and visiting by 8:30!! The C/O's were very kind (as usual) and we had a great visit. Although it's hard to say goodbye, it's always well worth the drive. I've got it down to a science now and it's really quite nice. The weather was beautiful and the traffice not-so-bad. So again, good luck to those of you I know are going up this month...Make sure to check the lockdown though as it changed on Thursday. Lucky me <crossing fingers again> that it hardly ever affects my man. Oh yeah and get to the vending machines ASAP as they are not restocking 'till Noon now. Take care all, and good luck.

I might be going up to Susanville the weekend of the 15-16. Has anyone tried staying in Reno instead of actually staying in Susanville? I thought it might actually be funner to waste time there between visits instead of Susanville which from what I've seen has NOTHING to do.
