I got a letter from my husband yesterday. He got to C.C.I. March 14th. One of the first things that was done to him and the other newbies was a T.B. "prick". Then they were all checked in a few days. My hubbie said out of about 20 guys, he saw 2 that were positive for T.B.. He was sitting by one guy. To his surprise......CCI didn't remove these guys.....just sent all back in. They were in the #5 building at the time. He wrote that he understood an outbreak was going on in #3 also. He wanted to know if I had any information on it out here. He is worried and so am I. Anybody know anything...............

Well know that TB is airborne, and is contagious and that CCI does do TB screening and administer meds to the ones that have been exposed, some ppl have positive readings alll their life and need chest xrays..that is the case with me, I am a nurse and was exposed in 1994, got treatment((pills PO, by mouth, sorry using medical terms.. and NOW every time I need a TB test I have to take a chest xray, so unless they know the Hx of these inmates dont be alarmed, they shut down levels due to TB processing and quarentine if necessary..that is the one viral that they take percaution on... And that is all I know.. but you can call to the medical 661-822-4402 and ask for info on the TB testing and screening..Hope I helped...

Thanks for your information BVN4life. I know very little about prison life and how they take care of things there. My husband and I both are fustrated because he still can't call home. And to Diamond.....his last letter has "gym III 55u" on it as his address. I don't know where or what that means. I'm still trying to learn about this system. Just wished I knew when he will be home.........tc

Hi ladies! This is my first post and I came on to see if anyone was chatting about the TB quarantine and maybe give me some more info but it looks like maybe I know more and can be helpful to SouthernBorn. The TB quarantine has been going on for at least 3 weeks now. It extended for a short period of time to all of Yard 3 but is now only affecting Bldg. 5. It has been horrible there. They got their first shower and out of cells in 13 days this week. My issue is that I keep getting told they are getting writing materials from the guards but they ARE NOT. My last letter was being written with a quarter inch pencil on the back of one of my letters! Do any of you veteran ladies know who to discuss this with. I hear the lock down won't be lifted until maybe May 2. Thanx.

I dont know who you would talk to I would try the wardens office first... They might send you somewhere else though! Thats terrible that they wont give them anything to write with, although I do understand the lockdown, that seems fair since the deadly disease is in the bldgs!

Thanks diamond415...I'll try that. I am also calling medical to see what they can tell me. I'm a nurse and hopefully someone in health care will give me the staight skinny on what's happening. They were supposed to retest everyone in the bldg. and then isolate the actives and treat them but I can't get any good info. I've talked to about 8 different C.O.s and gotten different stories every time. They are staying pretty tight lipped. It's frustrating but I understand the need to contain the spread.
