View Full Version : Admin Segregation & Receiving Mail SantaLucia 04-13-2006, 12:49 PM Hello everyone, would anyone know if an inmate in Admin Segregation can receive mail? Thanks! California Sunshine 04-13-2006, 01:12 PM Welcome to PTO :) Yes inmates in ad seg are still able to get and send mail,at least all the ones I have known are able to. mkhowes 04-13-2006, 01:37 PM Yes they are allowed to receive letters but there is a delay in them receiving the first ones ause they get rerouted. Hope this helps. SantaLucia 04-13-2006, 01:46 PM Wow, you guys are fast! Much appreciated! St. L luckyme1526 04-13-2006, 07:59 PM Hi, Yes they can receive mail, when my boyfriend went to Ad-Seg I called the prison and they told me exactly where he was and he got the mail real fast. I sent him some stamped envelopes and some paper because they have none of their property with them. He actually got that package and the rest of the letters faster than when he was in the yard. Rebeca SantaLucia 04-14-2006, 11:04 AM One more question......from what I've read on this forum it seems like it's ok to send stamps? I have a friend who had a cousin in prison in NY and they were NOT allowed to send stamps, so I'm nervous about doing that. The person I'm writing to is in Ad Seg and I thought maybe I should send stamped envelopes or stamps since in there they can have trouble accessing those things? Am I correct? Any advice appreciated. thanks sooooooo much. Cheetoes1 04-14-2006, 01:00 PM Thank God it's been a long time since my husband has been in Ad/Seg or done a SHU term. I have sent stamps to the prison without any problems. But I would call the prison, ask the operater for the mailroom and ask them what can and cannot be sent to the Ad/Seg. Better yet, if you have access to a Fax machine, have one of the mailroom staff Fax you a copy of the Mail Regulations. KellyA. luckyme1526 04-14-2006, 10:24 PM Hi again, My boyfriend was in Ad-Seg not too long ago and what I did is that I sent him stamped envelopes, however, I think that the Post Office has so many 37 c. envelopes that they don't have the 39 cent ones yet. When I asked they said that I could buy the stamped envelopes and then put a two cent stamp on them and send them like that. The prison will aceept them with no problems. Rebeca qwerty 04-18-2006, 02:25 AM Yes, you can send stamps, but the pre-stamped envelopes might be easier to get thru and most post offices have them now in the new .39 demonination. You can also send him writing paper. Mail is their life-line in ad seg, so do send those stamps and write a lot if you can! Mine was in ad seg for a few months last year, it ain't easy but you will get thru it... |
