Making a long story short and need some answers.........My brother is NOT up for parole at all but what is taking place is this...He has filed for Executive Clemency.....meaning he is innocent of his conviction and is taking it all the way to the Governor's Office. Now here is my questioned and I hope someone can help us. The family is meeting with the Governor's attorney his name is Mr. Crump. We have up to 45 minutes and we can go over but it can not go passed 2 hours to speak with him and plead our brother's case. Then his file is going with out merit to the governor. Has anyone ever gone this far in a clemency hearing??? I know you get to speak to parole board people but what we are doing is something WAY different...........has anyone done this or know of this or heard of this??? We are having this meeting real soon and I want to know what we are looking at when it comes to something like this??? We have no idea what to expect or why we are given this chance. Do other people get the chance to speak to the governor's attorney's about their application? Thank you for any help anyone one can give me and quickly!

This meeting is a part of the clemency process. Anyone who applies for Ex. Clemency meets with the Gov. Atty. to present their case. Mr. Crump is new to his job, so I don't know what to expect from him. The process is suppose to be one whereby Mr. Crump makes his recommendation to the Gov. and then the Gov. decides.
Just lay out what you have and I will be keep you all in my prayers and good thoughts.

Thanks pods.........We have it all layed out but I am just wondering do the take this stuff seriously like we will.........or are they just doing this to spend tax payers dollars for someone to have a job!! With my brothers application he submitted all of the evidence that was not allowed in at trial. If they could only read what was with held it would explain a lot. BUt what I am afraid is they will not read all the records that were submitted with his app. I thank you for your thoughts and prayers lord knows we need it!

I sent a letter to the govenor several months ago.I was impressed with the quick response I recieved.Counting the day I mailed it it took them 3 working days to call me.It was Mr.Crump that called. He took time to listen and answer my questions.I then recieved a letter in about a week.He advised thet my son apply for clemncy. once the courts decided his fate.We are now in that process.I was very inpressed with Mr.Crump.I think he will listen and look at everythink.I sent a 5 page letter and motion of discovery.I feel like they gave good attention.

I wish you all the luck in the world and hope you have a good out come.I am very bitter with the justice system in this state. They really can make your life hell if you cant afford an attorney. My son had to go with a public pretender too.She knows how I feel about her and so does Mr Crump.I am filing a complaint against her and she knows that too.The prosecutors office knows how I feel about them too. They made the mistake of sending someone to my house by the time she lsft she was telling me how sorry she was for bothering me.The prosecutor himself called and I gave him a head full. They were trying to get us to testify against my son at his probation hearing. Its along story, but he is in Varner unit because of his sister and her boyfriend. He was living with them and they told his probation officer a bunch of crap in hopes he would make my son move back home with me,so that the boyfriend wouldnt have to move. They didnt know it was going to cause him to go to the penn.He had never violated before but the crap they told the probation officer made him look like he was totally stuipid. This has all been one big NIGHTMARE.

Just do not give up...........that is when the pain begins for your son if you do. Keep the good fight! We are............ the governor's office has no idea who they are dealing with............this case COULD affect his election for Presdinetial Canidate. It is dirty all the way around and it has to do with DHS.

When I recieved such a quick response from his office I was very impressed but not impressed enough to vote for him for President.I have lived in Arkansas most of my life but am in fact a Texan. This has been our first and hopefully our only dealings with the court system. You really have to wonder if justice is served whem the judge turns to the prosecutor and ask what do you want or what do you think I should with this one.I have seen this more than one time but not in my sons case but it was the same judge.I have seen very few people walk out of this judges court room a winnerMy son went in Feb 23,2006 and they are telling him he will be out around June 2006.It is not much time I know, but he is 20 and he will have this hanging over his head for the rest of his life. What kind of future is that.He will always have dead end jobs because he is a felon. He didnt understand all this when he took the plea bargin he does now.I still remain hopeful that we can get him clemncy.I will be very out spoken about the judge when he come up for relection.
