know required for visiting our loved ones? My husband is at Coffeewood and the rumor mill is saying we now have to have background checks on us to visit.

In CT you have to have a background check to make sure you have no felonies or are a victim, etc. Isn't it crazy how every state is sooo different.

In GA they do a background check as well, for one to be able to visit...must be the common thing, because they are checking for felonies.

Va has always done them. That's why the inmate has to provide the SS#. You can't vistit if you're a felon on probation. I doubt they have always checked every single person, but I know they do check.

All,
I heard the guards talking last weekend and dont be surprised if your not in the system this week. I guess since there were alot of people on Saturday and they put so many in and when they came back on Sunday some were not in the system. They just had to do the paperwork again and be entered. They were able to still visit after all was said and done.

God Bless

Sure thing Daveswife :)
I come in here everyday to see if anything is posted for Coffeewood. I guess no news is good news. I go every weekend except for the 3rd Saturday. I guess that day is really busy. They now have Pepsi products in there and they changed all of the vending machines that you need to heat up. There prices have gone up also. Everything that was 65 cents is now 80 cents. From my understanding they make alot of money off of them. They also have water now. If you get there early its not empty. The water goes quick. Also the guys can not go up to the vending machines with you anymore they have to stay in there seats. Dont know if it was just for last weekend as I know they change there minds alot.

God Bless

Well, my hubby hasn't been there since 2004 but they were never allowed to go up with us. Every now and then one would slip by or we'd get a guard that was pretty lax. We used to get a great C.O. for the outside visits. As long as you weren't layed up on the table f****ng he didn't care. LOL
Hope you get him now that the weather is turning nice.
