My fience was sentenced to 7 yrs in april,01.
He was transfered to USBD in Leavonworth. about a yr ago, my house burned then my 5 yr old son and i was in real bad acciedent.I was hospitalized for about 6 months. after getting out getting kind of settled I write him, it gets returned unknown inmate or something like that. I forgot to write his box number, because I forgot what it was. So after a little more time for recovery passed I phoned visitation just to make sure I was still on list and clear to visit, also he had went up for parole in oct 04 march found it was denied .so knowing he would go up again the next yr.
I was concerned .. The lady says yes your on list you can visit explains a few things , I scrimp and save havent been working so money was tight . I finally get enough money to go visit. This is about 3 weeks after phone call. I get there they said they are not sure where I got myu info, but my man isnt there. 2 hours go by and they finally come to me and say hes not here. I asked if he was transfered or what they said at this point they are not clear and they would not be able to tell me anything. I had to speak to someone who happen to not be there. neaither him nor I have family left. he has a couple relatives in la.I think baton rouge, Who can I call what do I do? I feel my whole life just ended. Please help.

I ran a Toyota store at the time this happned. But to make a long story short this guy stoled a new car from our lot and ended up in Indiana. He was caught and put in jail. When the date of the trial came close,Columbus Ind. jail called and asked if I knew if that person have been sent back here. I told them I would ask at our jail but they didnt know anything about him except the time we first put out a call on him. As it came to be they traded him with 6 other prisoners to a Illinois jail because of the need for space. So he got lost in the jail system and no one knew where he was. About 7 months came and went and they finally called me to say they had found him in a jail outside of Chicago Illinois. Your husband may be lost in the system somewhere. If I were you and really needed him ,get in touch with your state police. They will refuse at first but they will help if you put some heat on em.
Hope ya find him................

Have you called administration for the department of corrections for the state where he was incarcerated? I dont mean just calling the certain prison, I mean calling their headquarters (probably in the state capital city) and asking for his location.

They should be able to tell you the whereabouts of any inmate. Even if he were traded to another state or county jail for lack of bed space, they will still have a record of where he is being housed.

Good luck and God bless. :)

What is your husband's name and I can try and do a search for him in a few of the states inmate locators online. You can PM me his information and I will see what I can find for you! Other than that the only other thing I could think of is what has already been said - call the STATES inmate information line. Each state has one, not sure which state he is in really be it California or what.....but maybe try calling the inmate locator line in Cali. and see what they tell you!! Good luck!!

Ma'am,
I would advise you to call (1)Inmate Services at the USDB and then (2) try the BDs SJA. The number for inmate services is 1-913-758-3823. If they are no help I would then call the SJA office at the installation where he had his court martial.
I would also recommend to anyone who has any problems getting access to their loved one during a scheduled visitation to speak directly to the day's CG (Commander of the Guard) who is always in the facility, not just the "gate keepers."
Hang in there...you'll find him.

Bugler gave you good advice. Another option (and maybe more accessible) is the Red Cross. Call your local office and explain your situation. The Red Cross has a long history of working with family of servicemembers to get information in crises. And this definitely qualifies! Good luck.
