Jail Facility Locations:
Main Jail: 1444 West Lacey Blvd. Hanford, CA. 93230
Branch Jail: 690 East Drive Hanford, CA. 93230

The Detentions Division is comprised of the Main Jail and the Branch Jail. The jails are staffed with approximately 70 employees consisting of two Detention Commanders, Detention Sergeants, Detention Deputies, Senior Detention Specialists, Detention Specialists, and Jail Cooks. Detention personnel have a wide range of duties consisting of transporting inmates to and from prison and other penal institutions, hospitals and medical appointments. They insure each and every inmate is properly cared for from the time they enter the facility to the time they leave the facility.
The Main Jail was built in 1964 and is rated to house 141 inmates. It is a maximum security facility and houses sentenced and pre-sentenced inmates. Both male and female inmates are housed in the Main Jail facility.
The Branch Jail facility was built in 1986 and is rated to house 116 inmates. It is a medium security facility and primarily houses sentenced inmates but a limited number of pre-sentenced inmates are also housed in this facility. Both male and female inmates are housed in the Branch Jail facility.
Work Furlough is a program available to inmates who want to retain their job and income while serving their time in jail. Inmates interested in this program must be eligible through the courts before any application will be accepted. Applicants for this program will be interviewed by the Alternative Sentencing Staff who will determine eligibility. Inmates who are selected for this program will be released from the Branch Jail each day they are scheduled to work. After their work day, they return to the jail. Job sites are checked to insure the inmate is there and is not violating any terms or conditions of the court order or the program.
To help ease the overcrowding in the jail, several Alternative Sentencing programs have been developed. These are called Alternative Work Offender Programs. Individuals who are qualified for these program work off their jail time by completing work hours at different job sites throughout the county.

Money may be sent to an inmate’s account through the mail in the form of a certified check or a money order made payable to the inmate. If you know the inmate’s Master Identification number, please write the number on the check or money order. Cash may be deposited to an inmate’s account at both the Branch Jail and Main Jail information windows. You must bring the money to the facility that the particular inmate is housed. You may not take money to the Branch Jail if the inmate is housed at the Main Jail or vise-a-versa.

Release Information:
Pretrial releases from custody are generally done in three different ways:
(a) Own recognizance or citation releases.
(b) Cash bail releases.
(c) Bail bond releases.
If an inmate is released from court on his or her own recognizance, he or she will be released as described above in booking information:
If cash bail is posted for an inmate, it must be the full amount in cash. A cashiers check for the full amount can be accepted during normal banking hours and must be made payable to the Kings County Sheriff’s Office. This money is returned by the courts after the inmate has fulfilled his or her promise to appear in all court appearances.
If a bail bond is posted for an inmate it must be from a Bail Bond agent who has registered with the Kings County Recorders Office. The jail can not and will not recommend Bail Bond Agents. Bail bond agents are listed in the yellow pages of the phone book.
All releases will be processed as quickly as possible.
For bail information on an inmate, please call (559) 582-3211 extension 2812.

Victim Information & Notification Everyday (V.I.N.E.) is a free and anonymous telephone service that provides victims of crime two important features: information and notification. The Kings County VINE service is provided by the Kings County Sheriff's Department.
VINE monitors the custody status of offenders in the County Jail. VINE receives updated information every 15 minutes via an interface with the Kings County Jail booking system. The information is stored at the VINE Communications Center in Louisville, KY. Information is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
The VINE service is available in English and Spanish.
