Visitors must be over the age of 18. An adult must accompany minors 17 years of age or under at all facilities.
Visitors will be required to produce a valid government issued form of picture identification at all facilities.

The Complex consists of three separate buildings - The Men's Central Jail, Women's Central Jail and the Intake Release Center. The three buildings are interconnected using a series of tunnels and corridors. The facilities are staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The average daily inmate population is approximately 2450 inmates.

The facility provides custodial and rehabilitative programs for 1,256 adult male and female inmates screened as minimum security risks. Educational programs are available which enable the inmates to receive high school diplomas while incarcerated. The facility has a strong program for the development of agricultural skills.

How can I post bail / bond for an inmate?
· Bail can be posted at the IRC Cashier's Office for Inmates at the IRC, Men's Jail, Women's Jail and James Musick Jail (24 hours) and for the Theo Lacy Jail (only between midnight and 06:30AM).
· For inmates at Theo Lacy, Bail can be posted at the Theo Lacy Jail, but only between 06:30AM and midnight.
· If the inmate is a new booking and has completed the booking process or has appeared in court and has been remanded to the custody of the Sheriff, bail can be posted at the IRC Cashier's Office at 550 N. Flower St., Santa Ana.
· If the inmate has been sentenced, bail cannot be posted
· Bail/Bond information will be available approximately six hours after booking time.
How long does the release process take?
· The average time is approximately 4 hours, but could be as little as 2, or as much as 6 hours.
How long after booking time are charges and bail information available?
· Usually, 2 to 3 hours.

How do I put money on an inmate's account?
· If the inmate is housed in Santa Ana (Central Men's/Women's Jail or IRC) or Irvine (Musick) money may be placed in his/her account at the IRC Cashier's Office.

How can I get some or all of an inmate's property released to me?
· During regular visiting days and times, simply advise the Deputy at the information desk that you need a Property Release Form Complete the form in detail and return it to the Deputy who will obtain the inmate's signature. When the form is signed, the property will be brought to the information desk. You must wait until all of the above steps have been completed. If you do not wait, the property will be returned to storage and the process will begin again when you return. Only in cases of extreme emergency can it be done outside of regular visiting days and times.

All mail is subject to search. Inmate non-legal mail will be scanned prior to delivery.
Inmates may not receive any mail, books, or magazines containing pornographic, gang, or violence-related materials.

Magazines and newspapers must come directly from the publisher.

Telephones are available in all modules and the booking intake area.
Telephones are provided in the dayroom for daily use during dayroom hours.
Inmates can choose to charge the calls collect, through a pre-paid account or phone card.
The general public may establish pre-paid accounts by calling Inmate Calling Solutions (ICS) at (888) 506-8407.
Inmates may not receive telephone calls.
Phone features such as call waiting, hold, and three-way calling are not allowed and will result in calls being disconnected.
All telephone numbers dialed and conversations will be recorded and may be monitored without further notice. (Exception: Attorney offices if the inmate provides the attorney's office number).The Santa Ana Jail administers a Commissary program for the inmates.
Commissary Guidelines:
Inmates desiring to purchase items not provided to them can purchase items from Commissary.
Persons wishing to deposit funds into an inmate's account may do so at the Santa Ana Jail Front Lobby. The Jail's Front Lobby is open everyday 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m to assist the public.
Visitors may deposit United States currency, money orders, and cashiers checks to an inmate's account. Cashiers checks, and money orders must be made out to the City of Santa Ana. Personal or business checks are not accepted.
These funds are available for the inmate to use the day after they are placed on the inmate's account.
Possession of monies by an inmate is forbidden.
Funds may not be transferred from the account of one inmate to the account of another inmate.
Checks and money orders may also be sent to the inmate by mail for deposit into the inmate's account. Annotate the booking number on the reference line of the check or money order.
Inmates receive a receipt of each account transaction.

Q.What are the hours for Sex, narcotic and arson registration?
A.You may complete your registration requirements seven days a week including holidays from 7:00 am to 9:00 am. You will be asked to present a form of government issued photo identification. You should minimize the amount of personal property you bring with you to the jail. You may want to secure your personal property in your vehicle or in one of the lockers made available by the jail.
