Local Drug Wars,

I'm in Indiana, and the local police in my town tend to go out of their way to bust users/addicts. And the local court system loves to dump them in jail. They also have a drug and alcohol program, where they put folks and all it amounts to is doing "drop tests" or "piss tests" what ever you want to call it. It offers no help, no treatment, it is just a threat that if they are positive on their test, they go to jail. They also have to pay for this out of their pocket. What do you think about this type of system? What do they have in your town? Is this all worthless unless they offer help or treatment?

Well I cant see 'threats' fixing an addiction. That just seems like a way to seem like they are doing something without spending any money. I dont believe anyone wants to be an addict and maybe prison is the only alternative for some to get clean.
