Hey ! I dont know if anyone still posts in this tread, but I was looking to get some general info on Alaska. I'm thinking about relocating there, but would love to hear how things are there?? Any advice on where to go, where not to go ??? And hows this thing weather thing work over there. Ist it really night for 6 months ??

Well, its not exactly night for 6 months. The sun cruses the horizon very low. Dec 22 is the shortest day. Kids go to school and come home in the dusk. It doesn't get total black like some places. Then June 21-22 is the longest day, the sun does not set at all. Some people find that hard to get used to. Like my hubby puts "black-out" shades on our bedroom windows.
Alaska is expensive.
Alaska is beautiful.
Anchorage is the largest City, it is located in a "bowl" with mountains to the East and Cook Inlet to the West.
Fairbanks if the next largest City. It can be 90 degrees in the summer and 90 below in the winter.
Juneau/Ketchikan is more South. Islands on the ocean with lovely mountains.
Anchorage has universities, good hospitals. Plenty of schools.
