Here is a link to Grand Valley Institution (GVI) which is a womans prison in Kitchener http://www.csc-scc.gc.ca/text/facilit/institutprofiles/grandvalley_e.shtml MrJustice 10-02-2006, 04:09 PM Grand Valley Institution is a federally run facility and is basically a series of condos which house a number of female offenders each. You may recall a few years ago when the public was in an uproar over Karla Homolka possibly being released to that facility. On the other hand, you also have the Vanier Centre for Women in Brampton which is run by the Provincial government....Ministry of Public Safety and Security, I believe they are now called. It has, I believe, a pretty good reputation and offers a number of programs to assist offenders to reintegrate society. If you are doing a project on prision life, etc. I would strongly suggest the Vanier Center although you will be interested to, at the very least, see the facility at Grand Valley. |
