My friend recently arrived at NKSP (2/28/06). He is already working in the kitchen and has been moved from C yard to Gym A. Does this mean he'll be mainlined there?
Also- what does the letter designation in the inmate number mean? His starts with an F.
Thanks

YOUR MAN WAS LUCKY TO GET MOVED SO FAST THERE. MY BOYFRIEND ARRIVED AT THERE ON 2-1-06, AND EVERYONE THAT HAD WENT THERE AT THE SAME TIME, HAS BEEN THRU RECEPTION, AND ON THE MAIN LINE . EXCEPT FOR HIM . SO FOR YOUR MAN TO GET A JOB SO FAST, THAT WAS GOOD. IS THIS HIS FIRST TERM IN STATE? IM NOT SURE HOW THEY DO THERE SYSTEM, IF ITS A FIRST COME BASES, OR WHAT. BECAUSE THERE'S NOT ALWAYS A ROUTINE TO FOLLOW . AS FAR AS THE F- LETTER, I THINK IT HAS TO DO WITH EITHER YEAR, OR ORDER GIVEN. I KNOW THAT THIS # STAYS WITH THEM FOR LIFE. IVE GOT FRIENDS WITH THEIRS BEGINNING WITH A- "k" and "w".

If he's mainlined does he immediately get to make phone calls & have contact visits? he sent the visiting form to me but didn't sign it first-does this cause any delay?
Thanks

Thanks for the quick responses. I think the quick classification may be because he did almost a year in Riverside County Southwest Jail before he was sentenced to state. In SW he was working as a "trustee' in his pod.
He also has a new case out of LA County - he will be requesting a trial or dismissal within 90 days. ( cdc form 643) so he may be transported to LA County .

Terry Ann- I tried to respond to the pm you left me-but I got an error message.
He had a J number 94-98. DIscharged from parole '99. Stayed out until April '05.
He has new convictions non-violent drug possession/transportation meth (4). Sentenced to 3 years, has 11 months left with county credits and 50% state time.
Now he has the F number. I'm sure he's a Level 1.
He has Hepatitis C. I can't understand why he's working in the kitchen. Don't they test inmates at Reception?
Thanks

There is no way he'd get an "F" on a new commit. You may need to contact his counselor. MANY inmates have Hep C and they generally can't get jobs in the kitchen if the prison staff is aware. However - kitchen jobs are the most coveted jobs as it allows them to get extra food. He probably hasn't told anyone he has Hep C. So ....shhh. :-) The 'F' number is VERY odd. I'd call the Records Dept at North Kern and ask them. They can look on the computer and determine why he discharged a 'J' number and is now being given a number from the early 90's.

Best of luck!!

I called NKSP Records. Nice helpful woman said "He's still in reception"; not Mainline; and when I asked why he has an "F" now she said "it doesn't mean anything, that's just his new number".
