The Yolo County Detention Facilities, Monroe Detention and the Walter J. Leinberger Memorial, are located at 2420 East Gibson Road, Woodland, California 95776.

Monroe Detention Center

The Monroe Detention Center is the main jail for Yolo County. It is a medium/maximum security facility rated to house prisoners of virtually every security classification. Uncommon vigilance meets not only the inmate’s needs, but protects society from their negative behaviors.



Monroe Detention Center Visiting Hours:

There is no general population visiting on Monday, Wednesday, or Friday.

Inmates may have two 30-minute visits per week (Week is from Saturday through Friday).

Visitors must be 18 years of age and posses a valid identification with a photograph.

Wives who are under 18 must have a valid ID and copy of the marriage certificate along with a copy of the parents consent.

A visitor under 18 years of age must be a member of the inmate’s immediate family and be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Monroe Detention Center Visitation Rules:

Visitors must clear security measures Any delays resulting from failure to do so will result in the visit being reassigned to the next half hour.

Visits shall begin on the half-hour (no exceptions). Visitors must be at the detention center at least 15 minutes before the half hour to sign up for visits.

During visits:

Inmates shall not receive anything from visitors without permission
from the Correctional Sergeant.

Inmates shall not take anything to the visiting area without permission from
the Correctional Sergeant.

Inmates shall leave the visiting area immediately when directed by an Officer.


Visitors may visit as many inmates as they like (time providing).

Mother and Father may visit together. This counts as one visit.

ll visitors shall have a government photo I.D. or written permission from the
Correctional Lieutenant or Correctional Sergeant on duty.

All visitors must meet required dress code

No hats, purses, excess jewelry, sunglasses, briefcases, pagers, or cellular phones

No gum, cigarettes, lighters, matches, tobacco

No food or drinks

Only one car key in your will be permitted,everything else must be left in your car

Don't leave children under 14 unattended

Walter J. Leinberger Memorial Minimum Security Detention Facility

Leinberger Center is primarily a working facility, designed to house sentenced inmates who work at various city, county, and state agencies to reduce their jail time.
Leinberger Center also acts as an overflow facility for Monroe Center.



Leinberger Detention Center Visiting Rules:

Inmates may receive no more than three visitors per visiting day.
Visiting registration is on a first come first serve basis.
Length of your visit may be limited depending on the number of visitors.

Visiting is on Saturdays and Sundays in the morning and afternoon. Even numbered dorms will have visiting in the morning and the odd numbered dorms will have visiting in the afternoon.

Visitors are subject to a search

Once visitors leave the visiting room the visit shall be considered terminated.

Visitors may greet the inmates with a handshake. No further physical contact is allowed.

Inmates may not take anything from the housing unit to visiting

Inmates may not recieve anything from visiting

No attire that resembles an inmates
No attire that is revealing
No tube tops, tank tops, or sleeveless tops
No see through clothing
No hats
No cut off shorts or spandex bike shorts
No mini skirts or short shorts
No clothing with obscene or offensive designs
Shoes must be worn

I need to pick up property for an inmate that was sentenced to the California Department of Corrections. How do I do this?

Property of an inmate sentenced to the California Department of Corrections will be held at the Monroe Detention Center for only 30 Days. After 30 days, their property will be discarded.

Property release is Monday through Thursday, 1:00 P.M. to 1:30 P.M. excluding holidays. Inmates need to arrange to have their property picked up prior to their transportation to a CDC facility. If an inmate is unable to arrange pick up of his or her property before their release, the person picking up the property must have a letter from the inmate in it's original envelope with the return address of the facility where the inmate is housed. This letter must state who is to pick up the property and that the inmate gives his or her permission for the individual to take responsibility for the property. This letter must have the inmate's original signature and be dated. All persons picking up property must have a valid United States or State government identification card. (California Driver's License, California ID, or military ID.)
