There are a lot of places that you cannot go if you aren't a Cuban citizen and it is kind of hard to get into Cuba from the US. How are you going to go? You might have to go from a nearby islamd then on into Cuba. But you are right Havanna is absolutly beautiful. I want to buy property out there, but you know the embargo and Castro hates the US so I can't right now.

Do you know it's illegal for US citizens to visit there? The Cuban gov will welcome your dollars, but I heard the US is cracking down on US vacationers to Cuba. To get there, you can't even buy a flight from the US. You have to fly into to Mexico and then purchase your ticket there and fly to Cuba.
I have never visited there, because I do not support its government-sponsored tourist industry. I have a very good friend who met and married his wife there. I suggest you do A LOT of research, if you can find it, before you go. Expect to see lots and lots of poverty and people scared to talk to you- unless you don't plan to leave the hotel. If you do go, have a blast and don't forget the pics! And hardly anyone there speaks English, so if you want to really enjoy the contry, Es necesario hablar espanol.

MrsBenji- I went to Havana (thru Cancun) two years ago. I loved it and would go back. It is a very poor country, but the people were warm and welcoming.

My family is from cuba. You can go from Mexico or the bahamas and yes even the U.S. . Flights from miami to the bahamas are $33 each way. And you would be surprised as to how many people DO speak english. You can go anywhere in Cuba, the govermant doesnt care, It's the U.S. that does. If you plan to leave the hotel there are many places that you can rent a car from. You can also pay someone( a local) to drive you all over cuba and show you the island from tip to tip.

I'am Cuban, and I know Castro very well (by the way i don't like him at all) and the embargo as well,(That why i'm here) but Cuba even been a poor country has beautiful places to go, "Varadero Beach", "Viñales Valey", "El Morro", "La Cabaña". and much more, it's a chame because of that regimen not even the Cubans that live in this Country and have their family there are alowed to go more than once a every three years.

So if you are a US citizen then is it perfectly ok to go to Cuba? I have heard that once there it can be hard to leave. I was thinking to go there once my hubby is released. I would love to go there form Mexico and i hope that we would not have trouble because i am a US citizen. Any one know any info on that?
