How would I go about visiting my husband in a texas prison when I live in washington. Are you able to help or suggest something

This is a hard one. That is quite a distance.... You would need to call the prison and set up a special visit and explain to them you are comming from Washington. Tell them when you will be there. They usually will do that and even sometimes, they will allow two visits on two different days.

I understand Texas is not a good about things as some of the other states, but surely they will allow a special visit under these circumstances.

I'm not sure how far it is to drive, but flying may be easier.

Well I do know a lot about visitation in texas. I used to live in california and flew down to see my husband in texas. What you need to do is call the wardens office and set up a special visit. Like 2 weeks before you are coming. Tell them you want to see him on Saturday and sunday. They will schedule a 4 hour visit both days. Depending on his custody level you may or may not get a contact visit. You can ask the wardens office that info. when you call.
You can also stay in a hospitality house if there is one close to his unit (prison). You can check and see for your self on the texas inmates families association website @ www.tifa.com look under the menu bar for hospitality houses. Then call them and set up a reservation. It is like a hotel but it is free when you are visiting an imate in texas. I hope this helps.
