My bf got his parole papers last week with his conditions etc... they also told him when he gets picked up he has to go straight to the parole office and check in.. my question is this, He put my address down to parole to but I have yet to hear anything. Do they come out and check out your house? Can anyone help me?

Sometimes they come before and sometimes after I guess it all depends on the PO.When my now ex got out his PO didn't come check the house until two days after he was released

yea, it all depends on the agent an whatever they want to do. i to have had some check out the pad before or call or even just wait a day or two. i've also had them say they were coming the next day an call then say they got hung up an will be going the next day an have this go on for about a week.so, its all on who the agent is.

I know that if he is parole to somewhere that is not in the county where his crime is committed, then they will come out and verify the address. But, if he listed a place that is in the same county as where he was before then they wont come out until the day after he checks into parole. My husband just got at ransfer from LA county to orange and the parole agent called to come out and verify.

what do you mean your friends man got on in Feb and has yet to come out???? When he paroles the office will usually come out the next morning, if he is high control parole, then he wil definitely be out the next morning

they are SUPPOSED to come to the home before they get out. But as anyone who has been thru the WONDERFUL California Prison and Parole system, knows that they do what they want when they want. Whether it's written on stone or not. Everything differs from prison to prison and PO to PO.They interperate the rules and regulation as they see fit for themselves.

i was wondering the same thing, my man gets out in May (I'm so excited!:) ) and i havent heard anything about his PO coming to check out my place, he said that they would; so how long before they get out does the PO come check if he's from LA and coming to SD?

That all depends on the Po. Some come out before he gets released some the day after, some weeks after. It depends on them and their work load.

I've never had one come out before he got home and we've done a bunch of violations and several different PO's. Every one has come out the day after he reported, which is the day after he got out. I have no idea what they are SUPPOSED to do, but that's how Shasta County seems to do it.

As many have already stated here, a lot of P.O.'s do not come out until after the inmate has been released, especially if you were in on a violation and the address hasn't changed since going in. But, I have seen people get out for the first time after several years, and the P.O. didn't show up until a few days later. So it looks like the unofficial norm is for them to show up after the release.

Now the general rule of home visits is that they are supposed to come out at least 2 weeks prior to being released. Basically everything is finalized within that 2 week period when the inmate goes on "S" Time. But for some reason, the rule is not being followed too much by any of the counties.

I agree with the rest of you guys, when my husband paroled the PO came out the day after he checked in. But, now that he is doing an out of country transfer I was told on monday thatI would be getting a visit within the next 10 days. I got a call and was asked a series of questions, I was also told to have my marriage certificate on hand. They have to verified we are married. I guess it's more strict when they do the out of county transfer. I also was asked about my status and if I make enough to support him. So whatI did to increase myhusband chances was, I have a friend who owns a construction company so he wrote a letter stating that he will offer my hubby a job. They also look for that too. I will keep you guys posted, I should be getting a visit anyday now:thumbsup:

What do they do when they visit your home? Do they have to search the house or soemthing? Or do they just come into the basic areas ans kind of look around? I am just curious if they have to look in closets etc? i just want to be prepared. I like for everything to be neat when inspections occur:)

My dad's experience with "home visits" is totally different. He got out in the middle of December and we STILL haven't had a home visit!!! SUPPOSEDLY, the PO is supposed to come tomorrow...we'll see. Here's my question...do they come in a "marked" car? Can the neighbor's tell it's a PO? I'm afraid the landlord may want to kick him out if they figure out he's a parolee....YIKES!

No, they come in a regular car and you can't tell they are parole officers.

Marvin's P O visited him at home only once. The P O just wanted to check out where he lives and who lives with him. He also checked his room - looked around and didn't say anything about his collections of swords that was on top of a cabinet. He saw Marvin's car, Honda racing type, and warned him to be careful with the exhaust that is too loud. Overall, his first P O was very nice and did not give him any problems.
