I sent him money. I did with delivery confirmation. It arrived at the prison the day he was transfered to another prison. So, will this money get forwarded to him?

I thought it took longer than that for the money to transfer. My husband said that they told him it could take up to six weeks. He has been at the new place for about 3 weeks now and still has not received word that his money is there.

My husband has been at his new facility almost a month and his money from Folsom has not transfered over. And when I try to find out what's going on with it they tell me its confidential.

That is the same info we get. My husband got transferred to Vacaville one month ago and so far his money has not arrived. I don't want to send more money than neccessary since they take the 44% anyway.

It's been about a month since he was transferred and the money (I sent)hasn't gotten to his new location yet.

Yeah, it does just depend. I got a letter telling me that he did finally get the $. So, it took about 4 weeks in all.

Is that money from prison to prison or from county to prison? When my husband transferred from LA County he had $650 on his books there but I have only rec. one letter so I ma not sure if it hit him or not! How quickly do the prison post the Money Orders that we send?

When my brother transfered from county to prison his money was there immediately, and they did not take the 44%! If I had known that I would have put more on his books in county.

Yes....I wish that I would have put more money on my husbands books also before he went to prison. Hey I guess you live and learn!

Make sure it is a Postal Money order... Then as long as you have the CDC number and PO BOX, it should make it to him... It would also be helpful to have the yard he is on too.

they told my husband it would take 8 weeks to transfer from chino to ironwood and when he transfered to ironwood he only had 8 weeks left, now with 34 days left, still no money...he only got 3 1/2 months and i sent him money the day he went to chino. chino took over a month to get it on his books, then he transfer to ironwood with 8 weeks left and was told its gunna take 8 weeks to get to him there, poor guy hasnt got to spend his money at store at all, cuz by the time he gets it he'll be out

Has anyone else used JPay? If so, do you know if the money is taxed the 44% even if we chose for it all to go to the "inmate" (and not restitution)? My guy hasn't gotten back to me so I'm curious....Thanks!

my husband was tranferred from the westside to the county and then to delano reception on the 6th .. when he was in the county i put money into his books but after reading another forum i found out that it wont hit him til a while so i just mailed him out (yesterday) a letter (8 1/2 by 11 cause they say it gets to them faster for some odd reason) with a letter and a money order and some envelopes and paper... does anyone know how long mail is taking now a days to get to them... and how do they do it with the money order does he get it and give it to them or do they automatically open all there mail and they keep it they just let them know they have money??

They take out the money order when they go through the mail. I've sent my guy an 81/2x11" envelope and put the money order in a small one and wrote "money order" on it so it doesn't get lost.

They will sometimes (not all the time) give the guys a reciept showing what they have, but have your hubby fill out a balance request form for the accounting dept. Then he knows what he has.

My experience with the mail is that nothing is "faster" it doesn't matter what size envelope we use or anything. A week is a safe bet. I've seen it get the them sooner and later... Who knows?!

Good luck

I tried online JPAY and with a credit card plus inmate name and CDC# it accepted my $40 amt and charged $3. If as others on this thread say, it takes 3 months for county money to catch up, I may need this service. Surely it's not a lot more than for a postal money order, and it's supposed to be quicker.
