My babe is sending me papers to fill out to get on his visitors list (he is doin federal time) and I have heard that since I didnt know him prior to his incarceration that I might not get approved.... :-( Just curious how everyone else has handled this.

My man's doing fed time too. For a long time he wanted me to lie on the form & say we knew each other prior to prison. Thinking only he would get into trouble, which isn't true. You would get a serious fine & possible time in jail. His time would be extended as well. They do background checks so be careful. For us, it wasn't worth the risk. So we decided to wait. Maybe others here have.

I did get approval. It may be because he has never had a visitor. I was approved about 3 weeks after I submitted the request.

I was reading this and I am wondering why do you have to know the person before he was sent to prison before getting on their list if they are serving Federal time? I know for state you can't be on two inmates list at the same time. My cousin Michael is in Kansas and Damon is in Missouri & I had no problems for the fact it's two different states. If they were both in the same state I could only be on one man's list unless if I was Imed. family to both then I could be on both list. But I have never heard the rule for Fed time on who can be listed on the visit forms

I filled out my application honestly after debating for almost a month. I was originally approved by somebody who was taking the wardens place while he was away and then when the warden returned he denied me because I didn't know him prior to his incarceration.
My loved one said he was going to talk to the warden about removing the people on his visiting list as they have not visited him in almost 2 years.
The warden was then going to talk to the case manager, and maybe (hopefully) change his mind. If that doesn't work, I'm going to send in a letter to him.
So, I am waiting on his decision......I'm crossing my fingers for myself and everyone else going through this. I think its a ridiculous rule.

I didn't lie and was approved within 2 weeks. I did pray a lot. I wish everyone well with their approvals.

I just filled out the form for approval and it didn't even ask how long I had known him or if I had known him before he was incarcerated, it just asked if I was friend or family.

The state of VA has never asked that ? they do however forbid visits because I am on probation but we worked around that.

I did, but it was mostly do to the fact I used to work there. We had to wait 24 months before we could even apply, but after finally getting the paperwork to the right people I was added. Been visiting problem free for over 2 years now.
