Hi,
My husband was recently sent to New Folsom, we were both excited about it as our home is in Folsom so I'm just a stones throw away from him. Well although he is a Level I prisoner with only 13 pts, first time doing time he is being housed with the Level IV inmates because of an arson charge that he was never convicted on from nearly 20 years ago - if he has to stay there he will not be able to work and will have to do straight time. His counselor at Tracy indicated he was eligible for fire camp but because he only had 14 months left to serve on his 3 year sentence he didn't have enough time left to do the camp. I can't imagine the system would let an arson go to fire camp but not be housed at the Ranch at Folsom???? He hasn't gone before the prison administration yet, that is next week but I was hoping to get some feedback from anyone that has or is in this situation at Folsom or anywhere else? Randy says that Level I inmates come in every day and some have been stuck in New Folsom for as long as 8 months already. He can't have a razor either and that is driving him nuts! Any ideas on what I can do to help him would be much appreciated. Thanks alot.
