Hi all, I just wanted to enquire whether you guys know about the radio station in Texas where callers ring in to request for songs for their friends in the TDJC? if so, how does this work bearing in mine that we live in the U.K? Can I request christian music or is it secular music only? if anyone has done this, please give me the details of this station and how to go about it..........I want to up-lift my friend's spirit with some christian tunes as it is his birthday soon, many thanks and God bless :D

Hi Imani,

Try this radio station KDOL (http://www.fm96kdol.com/)
They have a "Shout out Show" on Sundays 2-7pm (Texas time). You can email a request in or call and leave a message that they will broadcast.

This station is picked up in the Polunsky Unit, if that is where your friend is.

Hi
With regard to KDOL they do have a shout out show on both Friday and Sunday afternoons (USA time) and you can e-mail messages into them for them to read out. I am in the UK and do this twice per week and they are always read out. The address is kdolradio@hotmail.com

A fine idea--I wonder how many other units might be able to pick this one up? My friend in Gatesville has never mentioned any radio stations specifically.

I've been told both that Texas DR inmates are allowed radios and that they have "alarm clocks" which can be plugged into a radio jack to receive prison-approved radio programming. Does anyone know which, if either, is true? I'd like to do some shoutin' and want to make sure I'll be heard.

Do I understand that right that you have to be a paying member to do Shout outs?

Hey Schmusi. No, you dont have to be a paying member. Donations are of course more than welcome, because they do volunteer work. I love the show. I am so hooked ;-) I have sent email shouts, and also called twice by now, and will call each show, even I am always so nervous before calls, haha. And I have got my shouts from my love too: I cant even describe the feeling when I first heard a special shout from him; I was so touched, speechless and on cloud 9.By the way: these days they are only on air: SUNDAYS... So today :)

KDOL presently has the following notice on their web site:

"All Life Is Precious Ministries/Shout Out Show is a non profit radio station/show which relies entirely on donations to keep it in existance. The ShoutOut Show is extremely popular, both with the inmates and their family & friends.

ALIP has now implemented a membership system. All those wishing to leave Shoutouts will need to be a donating member. Please don't register if you have no intention of paying your membership fee. Your membership registration will be invalid without confirmed payment. Only registered donating members, once approved, will be allowed to send their Shout Outs. We reserve the right to decline membership.

Membership costs a one-off fee of just $20, payable using Paypal."

So it seems one does have to pay now. Mind, $20 seems a reasonable price provided one gets to use it a few times.

Does anyone know if they can get this station at the Dallas County Jail?
