My name is Cherrie and I have a loved one in Eyman SMU1. Steve is an ex-boyfriend that I have never stopped loving. We broke up in 1999 after a co-worker of mine and my brother-in-law started telling him lies about me to push him away. In Feb of 2005 I read in my local paper that he was arrested for murder. So I decided to write to him. Never expected to hear back from him, but I did. After about 2 months of writing he began to call every week then twice a week sometimes more. He was finally sentenced in December after several postponents. He pleaded guilty in June of 2005. He was given 20 years. I was approved for visits the beginning of February and for phone calls 26th of February. I was finally able to talk to him on March 6th. The first time since December 13th, 2005.During the 3 months we were unable to talk to each other I noticed his letters were getting a little more personnal and I began to think he thought of me as more than a friend. He told me he was sorry for the way he broke up with me and to forgive my brother-in-law and my co-worker. When we got to finally talk on that short 5 minute call I finally got to hear him say that he loved me I didn't have to read it.

Does anybody have a loved one at EYMAN SMU1? Do they all only get one five minute phone call per week? Five minutes is not long enough. Sad thing is, his kids and parents have not been approved for phone calls yet. Only thing good about that is I get all the phone calls. Then I call his mom and dad. We thought about having them come over to talk but was told that I may end up losing my phone calls and visits and they would too. So decided against it. His parents are just happy he has me to call. They know I send him anywhere from $250 to $500 a month plus I have ordered him several books, I print of sudoku games of internet for him plus I Sent him a Money order for $350 so he could get a tv and walkman plus the headphones for them. They know just how much I still love him and care about him. Steve says he thought he would be able to do the 20 years but now he is not sure since he knows I still love him and am going to be here waiting for him with open arms when he gets out. Because that is where he belongs home in my arms.

Hi there Cherrie , welcome to PTO and to the Arizona forum!! :) My husband has been at SMU1 in the past and yes, unfortunately, they only get one 5 minute phone call per week. :( I have hear that it's recently been changed though and once their score goes down, they can get up to two 10 minute phone calls per week. I am so glad to heard that you 2 were finally able to talk on the phone again, I bet you were so excited! :) Are you planning to come out and visit anytime soon? Welcome again and pm me if you need anything. ;) Lisa

I know this is not the right place to post. But I was wondering how much money you all send a month. How much do they need in there to get through a month?

Hi
I have my babe in SMU 1 too he is currently on lockdown and we are hoping he will be moved to a different yard soon, they keep promising but so far we are still waiting. I can't get to talk to my baby because they don't allow calls for overseas (I am from the UK), so I would give anything for just a five min one! Do any of you know if the non overseas calls is because of him being in lockdown or is it true what the cops are telling him no overseas calls because of the phone system? We are both not sure, becasue when I first went onto his visitation the prison called me! So if they can do it why can't my baby!
Take care

I know this is late (just recently joined) but welcome to Cherrie. My son just went to SMU 1 for murder also, but unlike your love, my son got life w/ possible parole in 25. Hard part is, he is innocent of this crime. Yes, guilty on the drug charges unhappily, and they even have the guy who confessed to the murder.. and he is there at SMU. told my son - stay away from him. anyhow, welcome and this is a good place to be - it helps break up the lonliness and there are answers to questions.
God Bless.
