Just wondered if anyone else cracks up at some of the kinda quirky signs around PV.... like the one when you're leaving:
"If you lived in Coalinga, you'd be home by now!"
Or the motivational ones as you go in, saying "You can make a difference."
And I know it doesn't make the place any less a prison, but I do smile seeing all the roses planted around the place. I think they'll blooming soon... It seems like someone is really into those roses!
And what's with those big bird statues? LOL

The signs are a good laugh as I drive in. I sometimes remind the staff of what they say. They laugh! It serves as an ice breaker. -C

yeah I think the same thing about the sign as you're leaving Coalinga, the one that says that you would be home by now. That always cracks me up when I see it. What really cracks me up is when you're going to the yards, how they have a sign in the middle that says PVSP, it's on the ground and it's made of rocks! lol I just love that one. =)

Ok, I have been dying to take a picture of the sign and have it as part of my siggy!! LOL But, I totally forgot my camera on the last trip!! :D Hey, why isn't there one of those signs in front of the State Hospital? LOL
As for the birds, do they turn around at night and watch the people in the Family Visiting apartments? :D :D

Funny you mention taking a picture of that sign!
My friend tried to get a shot of it the ONE day there was a van full of COs sitting right by the gate... well they saw us and started to get out of the van so I grabbed the camera and stashed it in the glove box -- otherwise I think we would have had a full on SWAT attack!
Guess they didn't realize we just wanted a shot of that stupid sign... so my advice is don't stand on prison grounds when you take the picture!

I don't know what they're stressing on? It's not like you're taking pictures of the prison!!
I actually have a bunch of pictures that I have taken at Old Folsom and they're cool with it there. You just have to check in with the guard at the main gate and don't photograph COs or Inmates.
