I need info on the california parole board. My husband goes before the board first week of august.When he went two years ago they told him to learn one more trade(he has 4) and stay trouble free(which he has)that they would give him a date. My question is can they be trusted. I'm just hoping they keep their word. Do anyone have in experience with them that can give me a little advice. Do anyone know how a date is giving? Do they let them ago witnin 6 months or one year or is it a matter of weeks?
Any info will help. Thanks for your time and support.

Lrondiz,
You can apply to attend the board meeting, Also there are things you can do to help him out. Although you probably know from your last experiance. As far as trusting the board, well its not always the same people who saw him last time, so they are not bound by the previous statement, of the people who saw him last time, although they do give it weight. They will review everything, & make up their own minds. So you need to make sure all your submissions to the board are up to date. Depending on your husbands controlling case, his sentence, & how many times hes been before the board, almost no one gets parole the first time up, the more times you go, the better your chances. I checked out the Title 15, & it doesn't say anything about a time limit. From what I remember when they grant parole it happens relatively quick. When they give him his paper work showing parole has been granted, they should give him a date then. All the Title 15 says is that "An inmate's case shall be referred to the parole region for parole program development 120 days prior to the expected release date, or immediately." So it seems that it will be less than 120 days. I don't recall anyone ever taking that long though. For more info go to;

Good luck.

Thank you for your reply. I've started to collect his support letters. We have three with jobs,and two with cars and of course I have a stable home for him. So we have done everything in our power. The rest will be up to the board. Thanks once again.

Lrondiz,
Thats great, everything will help. Everything he's done inside will be in his C file, his work record etc. From my experiance the only things that will get in the way are:
1. First time before the board-- They rarely grant perole the first time
2. A SHU term---you will not get parole from the SHU, or if you've had a recent SHU term
3. Ad Seg--- you will not get parole for going to ad seg
4. 115 & 128 write ups---Good luck, its doubtful, but not impossible.
They look at the reasons to give parole & the reasons not to give parole, & when the reasons to give parole out wiegh the reasons not to you will probably get it. The bottom line is reading a parole board is like reading a jury you really never no till the verdicts in.
Good luck---Ken
