Could someone tell me more about the Ramsey unit? My husband was just transferred there for the GRAD program but didnt say which of the two he was in. Where would they put him? Is it a fairly cool unit? I just hope he does okay. Any info someone could give me would be valuable to me. Thanks so much!

If he is in GRAD, then he went to R1. Basic description of the unit is on the TDCJ website.

In general, though, it is an older, more established population. Those in the GRAD program generally comply even better with the rules as they know that if they screw up, they will be in AdSeg for the duration of their incarceration and will maintain the STG tag if they ever return to TDCJ.

Following completion of GRAD, many have either been released to supervision via Board vote or transferred to other facilities and placed in the General Population with decent job assignments.
