OK... as I was posting something about the planning for the national event... antoher idea occurred to me... Would anyone be interested in planning an IL meeting???

If anyone is interested, let me know.... Any ideas for what you would want to do??

That doesn't sound like a 1/2 bad idea JD!! I would be for an IL get together!! We are SOO spread out though & in visiting EJ IL is a HUGE STATE!!

Let me know if you need any help in putting things together. I need some "filler time" at times when I come home from work or on the weekends.

i posted a thread previously about planning an IL get-togehter....
I have since talked with several PTO members who live here in IL and there seems to be some interest... so I am hoping to use this thread to make some more concrete plans....

Here is what I am thinking....
I would be happy to host an event.... I am thinking just an informal little BBQ cookout/ get together at my house....
I live in Rockford.... I know that there is one member who lives in Chicago who said she would be able to drive TO Rockford and would be willing to bring others from Chicago....
I am thinking perhaps on a Saturday or Sunday in September.... (not the first holiday weekend)....

Please post:
1. If you are interested in coming....
2. What day would work best for you....
3. Ideas about what we could do.... (I am thinking with how gabby the ladies I have met so far are we would have no problem just filling a day with eating chatting and perhaps a few games.... but am definitely open for other ideas....)

I think it would be a good time... I have found that those of you I have met so far have turned out to be wonderful friends.... So... let's get this get-together together!! :)

I couldn't do it that weekend I have to work and you are not allowed to request weekends off unless it's of the utmost importance...say a wedding, death,etc..! So if you all have it that weekend hope you have fun!

I'd love to come too and the distance wouldn't really be a problem for me. I'm off the weekends of the 14th and 28th of Sept, and like Michelle I can rarely get time off on my weekend to work.
Sometimes they ask me to take ER call on my weekends off ...but hey I can always tell them NO :)

I understand what you mean Sandy!! At the nursing home where I work, they are short-staffed just about all the time and us other employees have to cover it. I think it's just the thing of our A.D.O.N doesn't know how to do a schedule right. There will be 8 on for that night and 4 for the next one ain't that a real kick in the pants?

I remember working in a nursing home and all the staffing problems we had. I worked midnights and it seemed like we never had enough help! That was my first job out of school.... it was definitely a learning experience.

If things work out & EJ gets transferred to a closer to home prison & I am approved by the 14 of Sept. I will be going to see him. It's not in stone yet because he is supposed to be moved the end of this month. I will have to let you know JD's when it gets a little closer to the 14, ok? SORRY!!

Well.... I don't know when the "next" meeting will be, because actually there never was a first meeting.....
It was planned, but no one showed... so to be quite honest, I am not all that enthused about planning another one....
I know it's difficult to find a time when a whole group of people can get together, with busy schedules.... I am game for meeting anyone.... If people want to get together and think of a place and a date I would be more than happy to do MY best to work it into my schedule.... But I don't want to plan on hosting another event and then having no one show....
I hope that doesn't sound harsh.... I understand each individual's dilemmas on that day.... That's just my perspective.... :)

I live out int he country and Have a big place that all the kids can run free and play so may be this summer comign up we can all pick a place and have it at my place.. I have a small pool the kids can play in and we can have a cook out........
