Give drug initiative a chance

WE have said it before, but it needs repeating as often as necessary: whatever is the right way of dealing with the scourge of drugs in our society, the present policies are not working.
This is not to say that drugs should be legalised or even reclassified, but to recognise that despite all the time, money and effort which is spent trying to stop supplies getting into the country and trying to catch and imprison the dealers and confiscate their assets, the problem continues to grow.
