my boyfriend/fiance has been in ad-seg/shu, for 7 months now. being placed there pending an investigation on which his charges do not hold ad-seg nor shu terms. now there is no phone calls allowed to be made. the question i want to ask is; is there anyway i can "go around" his counselor and have him call me? do they allow emergency phone calls? is there any excuse they will grant? has anyone been able to speak to someone when their man/women was in the shu/ad-seg program?? would writing a complaint/request to the warden or c.d.c help??........thanks

They will allow emergency phone calls in Ad/Seg depending on the situation but know that the calls are made in the presence of staff and are closely monitored.

When my man was in "the hole" for about 7 months he was able to receive about 2 phone calls a month. All of these calls were on the phone collect however 1 of those calls was a direct call from the Sgt.'s off in front of the Sgt. The way he got these calls is because they were court ordered. When he went to outside court he asked the judge for phone calls and he granted him them.
If there is a specific emergency like a death in the family or an immediate family member is ill then you can contact his counselor to have him/her arrange an emergency phone call home. Keep in mind that those calls are being listened too so if your conversation isn't about the emergency you said, then they will cut you off real quick. Good luck!
