I need information about visiting at HDSP. Although I've visited just about every other level 4 prison in California, next weekend will be my first visit at HDSP. If you can please help me with the following questions I'd greatly appreciate it.

What is the procedure for visiting? Do I have to wait in a certain line outside of the prison? When and how do I get my visiting slip? Do they give them out at the guard shack or do I have to wait in line in the visiting room?

Can I wear open-toe shoes?

What are the descent lower priced motels?

Are there restauraunts like Chili's or Olive Garden nearby?

There's a Black Bear Diner on the main drag. I ate at the Apple Inns resturant ONCE and won't ever do it again. YECCH!!!!! There is also a WalMart on Main street, if you need anything.
As for visiting, I only had glass visits, so I don't know that part, but watch your clothes. Open toed shoes were ok when I was there last, but not backless (flip-flops). No orange, which is different than some. Sleveless was ok, but not tanik tops or spaghetti straps. Watch lengths, they have asked people to put their hands over their heads to check for shirt lengths, or bendover to check for skin showing at the waist. Only one ring, watch, necklace, bracelet allowed. I have seen them allow more than one earring in each ear, but don't go overboard. They got me on the extra ring thing more than once!! DUH!
There is a great little family owned Motel on Main, but I can't remember the name....looks like little A-frames and is on the left. Small, but cheap and clean. Nice people.
