Hello All,

I drove up and went to the prison yesterday and talked to several people there attempting to get more information about what is going on with the Lockdown. There are two things causing the lockdown:

1) With all of the movement of Level 2's out and new Level 3's in, the leadership within the "prison society" is in flux. Those group leaders that used to keep the peace within the population aren't there anymore and there is a jockeying of position going on. It will take some time for the new leadership to emerge and settle things down. In the meantime, there is fighting even within groups. Do you remember on May 20th when Blacks were off lockdown for the day. The minute they got on the yard, Blacks were fighting with other Blacks. That's why they were put back on lockdown again.

2) There was an incident between the white skinheads and blacks. An older black man was beat up bad enough to send him to the hospital. He was an innocent bystander. Lots of hard feelings between the groups now.

Tensions are very high right now. Inmates want to seriously hurt other inmates. Best advice is that the inmates should stay in their houses even if they can go to the yard, until the violence gets resolved. There are talks going on with the various groups to try and resolve the issues.

The frustrating thing is: how do you write to your loved one to tell him not to go out on the yard when it takes 3 - 4 weeks for them to get your mail.

Also, if you can send money to put on their books so they have money to go to the store that would be good. The Quarterly packages aren't being distributed. My son's 2nd quarter package has been there since May 4th. They are slowly allowing them to go to the store to stock up on stuff in anticipation of the lockdown being a long one. They may have a trial yard period sometime next week, but they don't think it will work, since the issues are resolved yet.

Not a rosy picture. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but I assume you would all like to know what is going on, even if it isn't good news. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me.

Thanks for the info. I live very far and they tell you absolutely nothing on the phone. The mail is very frustrating, you would think they would kick it into high gear and get extra help to process the inmate mail so they can get the love and support from their families to help them through this period of isolation. My husband writes and tells me he hasn't heard from me since May. I have written him 3 times a week through the whole month of June. I got a letter from him dated June 23 and he still hasn't received my letters. I also sent him money on June 4 and he hasn't received that yet either:mad:

From the sounds of his letters the violence is escalating and there is no end in site. It is safer not to go to yard, but hard for them to resist the opportunity for some fresh air after a month and half of being locked down.

Thanks again for the info, we need to pray for all of our loved ones that this gets resolved peacefully.

my husband just got moved back behind the wall from the ranch. i am not familiar with the lockdown. and i think that i have gotten some of my questions answered. they are able to get mail. it is just slow as he<< and that it is not a good idea to send packages because they may not get them for a very long time. the best bet is to send money and hope to recieve some mail soon!!! i have no idea what his new address is going to be all i have is his last one and i will pray it wont take that long to get it forwarded. ~~~~sigh~~~~ & sick to my stomach. i feel all of these emotions all at once. :help: :broken: :slap: :faint: :banghead: :yuck:    :argh: :shake:   :( :smash:

As of today all black/white inmates 40+ years are on normal status. I believe that visiting status will be normal this weekend (7/9-7/10) for white and black inmates who are over 40 years of age. Rumor has it that those under 40 will be off lockdown sometime next week... but I do not know if they will end up being able to visit...I guess theres still alot of tension.
