My husband wrote me a letter today he has been in reception for one month. We are really new to this prison thing. Had brain tumor 5 years ago and they want some med records, results and what treatments he had. I think I can get this from his doctors. Then he tell me two guys started fighting and they made everyone lay down and take off all there clothes--do they do these things? Also do they get any clean clothes in there or do they just keep wearing the same ones they gave them do they even wash them??? He sounded so depressed--Does it get better when they finally move them out to a reg prison or whatever you call it. I wanted to cry, and I know he was upset. If anyone has some information PLEASE LET ME KNOW SOON Thanks

Not to sound cold. However, the CO's do pretty much, what ever they want to do or think that is necessary. Getting on the ground when the siren goes off, is what you have to do. They don't care if you are near a mud puddle, you get down and don't ask any questions. As far as stripping, they are looking bruses and cuts to figure who was in the fight. My husband has a couple of sets of clothes. THey have clothing exchange, like once a week. The inmate can always wash their clothes "at home" (in their cell). I believe reception is a lot worse than mainline. Either you listen or you don't and pay the consiquences.
Sorry to sound so harsh, but welcome to prison life. It is this and a whole lot more.
It may be easier said than done, but, don't sweat the small stuff. This is the small stuff.

Hello:
My son has been in Reception since June 6th. I have heard from him three times. I got my last letter from him last week. He sound okay. He works in the kitchen everyday. He told me that it was better in Reception there than LA county jail. I know he does not tell me everything that happens, but I put my faith in God that he will protect him at Delano for time he is there. I am hoping that maybe they will not send him to far away to mainline. We are only 2 1/2 hrs. away from Delano. We have not gotten the approval to visit him yet. But we are praying that it will be soon. I am also new here and I appreciate all the help I have gotten so far from the PTO family. I am in here everyday. God has been good to us. He has not let up down yet. Put your total trust in God and he will take care of your love one why he is incarcerated. Tell your husband not to get discouraged. Tell him to stay strong and say a pray every night and day and God will take care of him. My son is only 23 yrs. old. and this is his first time in prison. Yes, there are times when I want to cry but that is not going to bring him home any quicker. I think he has accepted the fact that he disobeyed the law and he has to serve his time. I know that he wants to come home just like everyone else, but it is not his time yet. Just keep writing him letters and keep praying for your husband. God answers prayer. If I can help you in anyway, please let me know.
May God be with you and your husband. Can't wait to visit my son if God willing.
