After being at San Quentin Reception since November 23rd, my son is suppose to transfer to Solano very soon ( or so they say). I have some basic questions:

1) When he transfers to Solano, does he go straight to Mainline, or does he go to Reception again (not sure if all California prisons have Reception).

2) As soon as he is at Solano, can I visit him (I am approved to visit SQ)?

3) Can I send him a quarterly package to him, as soon as I know he is at Solano? Quarter is ending soon and I was hoping to send one.

4) If he is a level 3, does he get to have contact visits? Not sure who gets contact visits versus non-contact visits.

5) I am assuming that contact visits do not require an appt. Is that true?

Sorry for all of the questions. I had pretty much figured out how things worked at SQ, but now I am starting all over again.

Can't wait to finally see my son without the glass between us. :) :)

Thanks for any information any of you can provide.

Hi KeviesMom

I can answer a few of these

CSP Solano does not have a reception center so he will go mainline.

Once approved at one facility it follows him.

Yes you can go visit, if he is in orientation status it will be non-contact and you'll have to make an appointment. After about 1-2 weeks that will change to contact visit if he is allowed to have such.

You can send Quartely packages and a special needs package as soon as he clears orientation again. He can tell you if he has finished his final classification hearing and through that they have identified his privilege status. If you need more help on that later let me know, I have the 60 page sheet that breaksdown all that is allowed by privilege status.

Contact visits do not require an appointment, visiting requirements for Solano are on the corr.ca.gov site see facilities.

Barring any CDC imposed provision, he should get contact visits. Again he's told this at his Classification Hearing (ie:domestic violence, abuse kinda stuff)

Hopefully someone with a loved one up there has specifics on visiting conditions.

Goodluck and happy to hear, 4 months later he finally has a new home.

Thanks for the wonderful information. Apparently they changed their minds and transferred him yesterday to Folsom SP in Represa. I guess this happens often. What information will change now that he is at Folsom, not Solano. Any idea if Folsom is better or worse than Solano?

Thanks.

I would start a new thread for info on Folsom, because not too many girls on here have men at Solano so they won't see your update, and those that do, won't know (for the most part) about Folsom. Good luck!

I just heard that the Southern Hispanics are on LD again and no visiting for them this weekend. EVERYONE, PLEASE call ahead of time no matter what!

That's all the info I have.
Best,
Wendy
