My husband was just transfered to Mule Creek. I live all the way in San Diego, so it's a looong drive!! I was wondering if there was anyone else from southern cali, that visits Mule Creek. Maybe we could carpool, and split the cost of gas, hotel, etc??? I was also planning on waiting for Southwest to have another sale. I would fly into Sacramento, and rent a car, and stay in a hotel on Sat. night so I could visit both Sat & Sun. Maybe if someone else is in a similar situation, we could meet at the airport in Sacramento, share a car rental and a hotel room? Open to any ideas, I just know that if I go by myself. I won't be visitng very often, but maybe if I find someone who wants to join me and share the costs, we could go see our baby's more often!!!???:yay: :heart:

Thanks for the welcome!!! Check Southwest...I was looking last night, and they are having a special from April- August. It was only $138 round trip all taxes included! That's not bad at all, because that is just about what it would cost me in gas if I drove, not to mention the time I would save by flying! I haven't got a specific date in mind. I haven't seen my hubby since Feb. 11th, so I am missing him like crazy!

I couldnt help but notice that the 2 of us seem to be in the similar situation! My bf and brother are both at mule creek and i can never find anyone for the life of me to come along for the trip!! Needless to say the drive alone is bitch- and then tack on the costs of gas,hotel,ect.ect. I wish I could go more often to see the 2 of them- because usually i end up not seeing (1) of them and feel so guilty! But the costs just seem to add up~ it would be so nice if i could find someone to car pool w/ and share the cost of gas and hotel- it would make it so much more afforadable and actually not that bad of trip as well- sucks driving alone especially at nite when your sleepy! I just actually got back from vistiting this easter weekend! I want to go back already- it sucks missing someone so much! But if you'd like to maybe talk sumtime and see if your interested in maybe giving a carpool type thing a try- i'm open for it! I'm 29 by the way and from the OC/La area- im boarder line both- near Huntington beach and Long beach- i'm pretty down to earth i guess ~ i mean normal that is or hell maybe then again maybe i'm not but if your interested in seeing your h oney more often- maybe we could find a way to accomidate our needs without the high costs included w/the travel~ Especially how freakin expensive gas is these days!! I can totally relate to what you are saying because I'm in the same situation....I haven't gone to see my husband yet because he just got there but I'm actually dreading it because gas prices just seem to be going up by the minute. Not to mention the cost of hotel, food, etc...6 hours is a very long drive for 1 person to do on their own....from my calculations...for me to get a decents night sleep to be able to have a nice visit I would have to leave the day before...my husband has been trying to find me someone to carpool with from the LA area also just to make it a little bit easier for me financially....he had wanted me to take the train but then I told him I'd have to rent a car once I got there anyway....

I have started to think that it's cheaper to fly now that gas is over $3.15/gal...I know that part about having to rent a car sucks...but maybe if we all planned a trip at the same time, and got flights that got in at the same time, we could share a rental as well as the hotel???

Now I feel especially blessed that I am only over two hours away! Thanks everyone! No complaining here!

I am three hours away and I get to visit fairly often. I thank the Lord often for blessing me with the ability to visit my husband. My heart goes out to all the families in Southern Cal who dont get to visit often.
