Jordanrae 03-17-2006, 01:56 PM Just wondered if you guys had any preferences......getting ready to send my man a quarterly package at Avenal, before the end of this quarter. It's my first time - who do you guys recommend? I want to make sure he gets it........and quickly......
Thanks!
lolis 03-17-2006, 04:10 PM this is my first time sending packages i send my son thru access securepak and they were fast he got it in 3 days and i like what they have my son love it.
LovingYou 03-17-2006, 06:46 PM access has a bigger selection of food in my opinion.
PT ROSE 03-19-2006, 03:56 PM Access SecurePak is the only one I have used. He receives it in 2 days.
I've never had any problems with them.
TerriB 03-19-2006, 08:10 PM I've used both Access and Union Supply and I have to tell you I liked them both, more name brands at Union but also slightly more expensive as well. Access gives you $$$ off if you spend over X amount of money as well. Just use the one you find that you like the best and then you will decide.
Union delivered in 2-3 days also and Access was 2-3 days one thing I did like about Union was they sent me an invoice with everything I ordered via snail mail when placing an order over the phone, Access never has done this.

I get a printed invoice via snail mail with everything I order from Access, but I have to ask for it.
cysreese 03-25-2006, 04:21 PM Access SecurePak is who I like they do not take long to get it to my honey. I recently used Union and was not happy at all, it took them over two weeks to take it from my account and to send it to my honey. Access I have never had that problem it usually is where he is in 2-3 days. As for the invoice I copy and past it in word and keep track of it myself.
Everyone has their different experiences I guess you would have to see which one worked better for you. Best to you!
Jordanrae 03-25-2006, 05:03 PM Well, based on the consensus here, I used Access SecurePak. It did get to Avenal in 2 days - now just depends on how long they take to give it to him. So we'll see what he says....but they were responsive to my questions, charged my credit card right away and e-mailed me the invoice which I printed out, so......I'm happy so far!
Thanks, everyone.....

kristinam79 03-26-2006, 03:52 PM I use union supply which is www.californiainmatepackage.com (http://www.californiainmatepackage.com) they are quick, I use my debit or credit card and it goes out within 3 days, and they sent them UPS overnight so it gets to the prison fairly quick, then it's just up to R&R to pass them out.
I've had very good experiences with both Access and Walkenhorst. My brother usually likes Walkenhorst the best because they have lots of name-brand products--stuff that reminds him of what he used to eat on the outside! Both get their quickly, and have given good customer service.
TheGeneralsWife 03-29-2006, 01:41 PM I use Walkenhorst because I have had nothing but problems with Access. His package from last year, June 2005 has yet to show up and a refund, they told me was totally out of the question.
Cubana 03-31-2006, 09:40 PM I have used them all. Never had a problem with any of them. it all depends on what he wants. Walkenhorst has socks and stuff like that that the other 2 don't so it just depends on what he wants. i just ordered from Union this pass thursday and they shipped it on Monday and he got his slip from R&R on wed.
Twig's Lady 03-31-2006, 09:48 PM My favorite so far is http://www.packagesrus.com (http://www.packagesrus.com/). They have the best selection of stuff at the most reasonable prices. Their customer service is excellent too. The best part is that whatever I order actually gets put into the package! That's not necessarily true with other companies.
I used Union Supply a couple of times too. Their service is good, but their selection leaves something to be desired. They do have things that some of the others don't have.
There's also one called D&D that I was going to try, but I haven't yet. Their website didn't have our institution on it and I didn't want to have his package sent all over the place and have him never get it. I'm probably going to order one next month so I may try them. They have the frosted animal cookies he likes. :-)
I've never used JB Impact, so I can't comment on them.
I've had lots of problems with Access. I pretty much stopped using them unless I have to order something that only they have. The last straw was when I ordered a lamp and a spare bulb from them in the package. What he got was 2 bulbs, no lamp. When I contacted Access, they were not very helpful. Unless they have a CO sign on the paper that the item was missing, you are just out of luck. We all know how helpful CO's can be.
As to Walkenhorst, I don't order from them just out of principal. I'm not sure if you know it, but Walkenhorst is owned by a group of CO's. I just can't see spending my money to enrich that group of people.
I also used MGM packages once. It took forever to get my order shipped, then they cut part of my order and it took me nearly 6 months to get my refund. They make you calculate your own weight, but the weight they put on the website isn't correct. I even used Excel to make sure I had only 428 oz. I'm definitely not a repeat customer there.
Just wanted to comment on your comment below about Walkenhorst--I'm pretty sure that's not true. I used to thinkt he same thing, because there is a big company with a similar name that is run by COs and suppplies security guards. names. The Walkenhorst we order from is a small company in Napa, CA. I can't remember the name of the bad Walkenhorst-like company, but it's only a letter or two off. We can order pacakages from Walkenhorst without fear.

MikesSis 04-24-2006, 01:37 PM I live in Napa and have never heard this about Walkenhorst either. It used to be a store in Napa, they closed the store 10+ years ago and started doing only catalog orders, specializing in insitution.
Can someone make a list of package companies? Maybe one already exists...if so please post a link to that thread. Thanks

I hope this works...I've never posted a link before, but this should be the list of companies.
