The Marshals must travel at night..... cuz Jim was in Oxford, WI last night when I went to bed........and this morning all the way to Terre Haute, IN.
Weird thing......the judges asst. said he couldn't go to this one place because his security rating was High..... so she said bop's paperwork said Terre Haute High Sec. Pen. The website says he's in T.Haute FCI..... clicking away that says it's medium security. HUH?
I guess I should wait a day or two to see if he's transferred across the street.
WhiteDuck...... if you and another lovely lady want to send a Howdy-Duty (Dooty? lol) Welcome Wagon from PTO.... I bet that would be appreciated.
Thanks to EVERY SINGLE PERSON here, and their loved ones for all the hand holding........ being the the PTO-cradle is very soothing. I like that phrase....... "The PTO-cradle." Yeah... that's what it is.
Blessings,

He is probably in segregated housing at the medium until he's processed across the street. Nick went through the EXACT same thing. Let me know what unit he is in when he gets to the USP across the street. Maybe my man can say hi and show him the ropes or something. Just a thought. Be patient. Do you plan on visiting him at Terre Haute? If so, I would print the visit form off the BOP website now and get it filled out. You can find out his counselor's name as soon as he arrives there and attention it to him/her and get the process started.
:) Thanks NickNBree....... yes, when he goes to the USP and if he's around your guy ... maybe he can give him a PTO-Hello (hey, that rhymes). That's mighty nice of you and him also. It must be mighty lonely and scary going in. THANK YOU (do give a nod or HELLO like women do, or is this just a 'woman-thing????')
He's still in holding I understand from the operator today.....but she said to go ahead and send the card I had written to the POB. 33 addy. She said he'll be housed soon.....and even if he WERE in the "bull pen" (her words) he'd still get the mail. That IS comforting. How long does it take for mail to get processed usually?
She was sure to tell me if I sent any $$ to send it to Des Moines and it would FOLLOW him throughout the system. Yeah..... friends HERE told me that...but I didn't tell her that. She was being helpful.
I printed the Visitor's Form, and filled it in as best as I could. How in the HECK am I supposed to fill in the "Relationship" portion. Just answer "YES" :D . LOL Before he was moved I had sent a letter and asked HIM how we should list this on the form. Keep in mind the judge was/is trying to somehow get me listed as family. I read the rules, I'm not a spouse, mother/father, child (hush, lol) and such. I feel REDUCED if I put "friend." As far as the date we met....... I remember the exact date, time too. I'm not sure if he got that letter. Oh he remembers the place and PROBABLY the year, lol. I hope he got that letter.....it was October 17 in the late 90's.
I'd LIKE to go for a visit if/when approved. I cannot drive that far. I'm 'allowed' to drive in 20-minute incriments. If I leave NOW, the 475 mile drive will take me until about his release date. MapQuest says it's 7 hours from here to there.
I THOUGHT if I saved a bit of my SSD $$ each month.... maybe during the summer or fall I could fly there. It says the nearest airport is Indianapolis ...... 70 miles from there.:broken: So I'd have to rent a car..... again with the driving......but BETTER. I'd have to either get a hotel room or sleep in the vehicle somewhere. I just don't have any money for this. NOT that I'm just saying that either.... I mean it LITERALLY.
I'll check the bus lines tomorrow. It would probably take 2-3 days to get there and I'd look a wreck. He wouldn't mind though......and if he KNEW that I'd be doing this.... or considering it.... he'd tell me absolutely NOT to come. He knows I'm head-strong though (LOL, that's a no-brainer, lol)
THEN there is the "random ion machine." I'm TERRIFIED of this thing. I take SO MANY medications, I'm lible to set it off by being near it. It may blow up or something - lol. I HATE these meds....but they are life sustaining.... so I cannot go without. I guess IF a visit was a possibility.... MAYBE his counselor could help? Also.... what do they do if a person has a straight cane or walker? This is so complicated. Maybe I can go w/out the assistive devices???????
Oh whyyyyyyyy couldn't he be closer? He's over the 500 mile limit from HIS district. Why couldn't he be in Oxford......which is not THAT far from here?
When this is done and over with....... if he even LOOKS at a drug again or sets foot NEAR a bank..... my cane is going directly up his buttocks.
Still I'm :broken: and:cry: ....... I wish I could hear from him.
Ok.....time to pick myself --- get some rest -- I am REALLY exhausted in my mind and body --- and face a new day. I'm not normally THIS whiny.
Thanks NickNBree........and thanks to ALL.
BLESSINGS!

Doni-
I understand your money concerns. Terre Haute is a 6 hour drive for me and I always stay in a hotel when Im there. I cant justify driving six hours for only one day. I have to try and make it at least a two day visit each time! There are plenty of people that visit in either wheelchairs, or with a cane or walker. They just take extra time examining whatever it is you are bringing in to make sure there is no "contraband." As far as the ION machine goes, I feel your pain. I am obsessive about not putting on lotion, perfume, hairspray or anything before our visit. I wear gloves until right before I get scanned. And I do not take any meds and am never around illegal drugs. If you wanted to take to someone about your meds and the machine, I would start with his counselor and he or she may then direct you to an associate warden or even the warden for some sort of preapproval or exception. Where are u from? Keep ur head up!

Yup, the counselor is probably the very BEST place to start. I don't want to step on any toes. That would be AWFUL.
I sent a letter Friday and Saturday. The operator at the number on the bop.gov website looked him up. She couldn't find his last name at first (it's an odd spelling) but easily found him by his number. She had typo'd his last name. She said to go ahead and send letters to the POB 33 in Terre Haute and no matter WHERE he's at in the system....even the "bull pen" (holding area??) that he'll get them. Is this true? I want to write again tonight..... I feel the need. You know how that goes.
I will have my medical doctor list my medications, times and such and have him notorize this.......and have several copies. That should help.
Ion machine.... I've heard such horror stories.........and to NEVER TOUCH cash money (bills)...and to always use hand sanitizer even if gloves are worn. No perfume...as little make up as you can.... no fabric softner. I ABSOLUTELY understand the need to keep contraband out......oh YES (even though it's still in there!)...... but geesh.... I don't know if I should go in grubby or well groomed. LOL!
To answer your other question....... I'm in west central WI...... by MN. If mapquest says I'm 7 hours from there......and you're 6 hours.... I wonder if we are close to each other? I'll PM you the town.
Thanks for your help......... everybody here are life-savers. Both inside and outside........ God's helpers I think.
Blessings,
