Does anyone know........if someone files for divorce - is that public record for anyone to look at? If so - where would you go do look this up? Especially if you're not sure which courthouse the papers were filed in.....we know the county - just not the specific courthouse......
Thanks......any legal minds who can help..... :hmm:

Judgments of divorce are a matter of public record. Usually the pleadings associated with a divorce disclosing the reasons for the proceedings or other matters germaine to the marriage are not.

I went to the court house in Down town on Hill Street to get a copy of my husbands divorce so we could get married and they told me where the case was filed and where to go to get the copy in Santa Monica. It is useally filled in the city the person that filed lives. Hope this helps but I think you have to have the case #.
