Visiting may be terminated for cause or emergencies at any time.

Visiting hours are subject to change without notice.

At this facility two types of visiting are available: (1) Contact Visiting, and (2) Secure Visiting.


Contact visits are best described as you and your visitor being allowed to visit in the same room. You are allowed a short kiss and embrace upon initial contact and again upon departure. No other form of physical contact is allowed. These visits are directly supervised by a correctional officer and are limited to space available in the contact visiting room.

Secure visits are conducted in cubicles where you and your visitor are separated by a glass partition.





Visiting Attire

Women: Blouse, shirt, sweater, slacks, jeans, skirt, or dresses, as appropriate.

Men: Trousers, jeans, shirts, sweaters, or T-shirts.

Men/Women: Jackets, coats, hats, purses, and bags will be left in provided lockers; Shoes and sandals will remain on the feet; Clothing worn into Visiting must remain on. No cutoffs, shorts, or beach type clothes are allowed.



General Visiting Information



All visiting must be pre-approved via the "Visitor Application" form and visitor's name must be on the "Approved Visitors List" at the Reception Desk. Individuals on probation or parole cannot visit without written permission from their Probation Officer and the Superintendent. Visiting may be denied due to inappropriate dress or the detection/suspicion of the use of alcohol or illegal drugs, or for inappropriate behavior.

A picture identification card, i.e. State Drivers License, State ID, Military ID, is required for identification. A relative may escort minor visitors, under the age of 18, who are related to the prisoner and have prior approval. If the minor is not related to the prisoner their parent or legal guardian must escort them. The burden of proof is on the prisoner.

Personal items may not be taken into visiting. No chewing gum is allowed. Visitors with babies will be allowed one (1) bottle and one (1) diaper and one (1) handi-wipe. Breastfeeding is not allowed in the visiting room. Children must never be left unattended on facility grounds. Visitors are responsible for the conduct of their children. Unruly children may be cause for termination of the visit. Pets are not allowed in the facility or left in vehicles on the facility grounds.

During contact visiting, visitors and prisoners are allowed a short kiss and embrace upon initial contact and again upon departure. However, any other physical contact will be cause for termination of the visit. Exchange of any item between prisoners and visitors is prohibited. Cameras are not allowed in visiting or on institutional grounds - prisoner photographers are available upon request and approval during contact visiting.

Promoting or introduction of contraband into a correctional facility is illegal and punishable by up to five (5) years imprisonment and $50,000 fine, (AS 11.56.375). Refusal to allow an authorized search by staff may result in a denial of visiting. Visitors who leave the visiting area and exit the lobby will not be readmitted until the next visiting session.

Funds being deposited for a prisoner must be in cash, cashier/certified check, traveler's checks, or money order. Personal checks are not accepted.

Any special visit must be pre-arranged through the Superintendent or designee.

If a visitor is warned for violating any visiting rule, contact visiting privileges will be terminated and the visitor may be barred from visiting or be allowed secured visits only.

Visitors will follow all instructions of staff promptly. Smoking is prohibited in this building.

VISITING RULES

Physcial contact will be limited to a short kiss and embrace at the beginning and conclusion of the visit with all visitors, to include children, to comply with D.O.C. Policy and Procedure.

All chairs must be spaced apart and may not be moved from their position.

All clothing that is allowed to be worn into the visiting room must remain on, to include shoes, sweaters, vests, etc.

No chewing gum or tobacco products, to include lighters and/or matches, are allowed into the visiting room.

The Officer in the visiting room may designate where the visitor and prisoner are to be seated.

Prisoners and their visitors are to remain seated during their visit. Prisoners and their visitors are not permitted to walk around in the visiting room.

Visitors shall be responsible for the conduct of their children at all times while on the premises.

Body contact is not permitted.

Visitors shall leave purses and outer garments, i.e., coats, parkas, etc., in their vehicles or in the lockers provided in the front lobby.

Weapons of any sort are not permitted to enter the facility.

All visitors shall present accurate picture identification.

All married or emancipated minors must furnish appropriate documentation i.e., marriage license, court order, etc.

Visitors must be dressed appropriately.

Visitors who leave the institution during visiting hours shall be viewed as terminating their visits and shall not be allowed to return until the next visiting period.

Visitors will not be allowed to take any items into the visiting rooms, and prisoners and visitors are not permitted to exchange anything in the visiting room.

Any special visits must be pre-arranged through the Superintendent or designee

Directions

From Anchorage;

Go southeast on SR 1 to SR 9 - 90.4 miles (145.5 km)

Go south on SR 9 into Seward - 38.1 miles (61.3 km)

Once in Seward, turn left on Nash Road.

Follow Nash Road approximately 5.5 miles (8.8 km) until you come to the Spring Creek Correctional Center sign.

Turn left.
