Visiting Policy
Visiting hours at the site are Sunday from 1300 to 1700 and Thursday from 1300 to 1600. YOU MUST HAVE PRIOR APPROVAL BEFORE YOU VISIT. Please ensure that this has been accomplished BEFORE you drive out.
Our facilities are not like most other institutions, so be prepared for a bit more rustic environment.
You will be signed in at the front gate and provided transportation from there to the visiting facility.
You will be allowed to bring in one diaper and one bottle for a baby.
Everything else must be left in your vehicle. Your attire must meet policy and as in all other state facilities there is NO SMOKING!
Directions
If you are traveling from Anchorage, drive north on the Glenn Highway to the Parks Highway turnoff (approximately 35 miles). Turn left at the light and drive into Wasilla until you reach the intersection of the Parks Highway and Knik-Goose Bay Road (KGB).
From other locations travel to the same intersection (usually Palmer Wasilla Highway from Palmer or the Parks Highway South from other northern locations). From this intersection, proceed 17.2 miles SOUTH on KGB to the intersection of Point MacKenzie Road and KGB. Turn RIGHT onto Pt. MacKenzie Road and proceed 7.5 miles to the dead end (a "T" intersection).
This begins the gravel road. Go right for approximately 1/4 mile and bear left onto Ayreshire Road for approximately 2.3 miles, where it intersects with Guernsey Road. Make a left onto Guernsey and proceed approximately .33 miles to the main gate of the project.
Direction signs have been erected from the intersection of Pt MacKenzie Road and KGB.
