SECURE VISITATION DAILY SCHEDULE

Also referred to as Regular Visiting, most visitors will be involved in this type of visiting. You will be separated from the person you are visiting by a glass partition.

Daily secure visiting hours are:
8:00 A.M. - 11:00 A.M.
6:30 P.M. - 9:00 P.M.
Monday through Sunday


CONTACT VISITATION DAILY SCHEDULE

Eligible and approved inmates will be authorized contact visits with their approved visitors. Visits are limited to space available in the contact visiting room. Visits are also subject to interruption due to the multiple use of this room.

Daily contact visiting hours are:
8:00 A.M. - 11:00 A.M.
Monday through Friday (Except Holidays)

6:30 P.M. - 9:00 P.M.
Monday through Saturday

VISITATION is subject to rules which have been set by Statewide policy. All rules must be followed. Violation of the rules can result in the loss of visiting privileges.

VISITATION is subject to cancellation or interruption at any time based on the security requirements of the facility.



Visiting Rules


All visitors are subject to a search by a metal detector or a pat search.

All visitors must show proof of identification with a picture I.D. card.

All family members under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult family member or guardian.

All visitors under the age of 18 and not a family member may request a special visit through the superintendent and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Persons under probation, parole or other community supervision must obtain the permission of both the supervising officer and the superintendent prior to visiting.

Visitors who are not family members and who have been released from an institution within the preceding 60 days are not allowed visitation without prior approval of the superintendent.

Visitors and prisoners may not exchange any object except with the approval of the superintendent or his designee.

Visitors are responsible for keeping their children under control; unruly, uncontrolled, and disruptive children will be cause to terminate a visit.

Only those persons who are actually visiting prisoners will be allowed in the building.

DRESS CODE FOR VISITOR'S

A shirt and trousers for men, and a blouse or shirt, and slacks or a dress for women.

Cut-offs, shorts and beach-type clothing are not acceptable.

Footwear must be worn at all times.

Hats will not be worn in the visiting rooms.



REASONS FOR EXCLUSION FROM VISITING INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

Security Requirements.

Space Availability.

Disruptive Behavior.

Being under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Health problems, including chronic mental illness.

Refusal to submit to an authorized search.

Being under the age of 18, unless the visitor is a family member of the prisoner escorted by an adult family member or is a nonfamily member escorted by a parent or guardian; the visitor has attained majority by virtue of marriage to the prisoner in accordance with AS 25.20.020 ; or the visitor is an emancipated minor in accordance with AS 09.55.590.

Previous violation of visitation rules or regulations.

Presently under the supervision of the Department of Corrections.

Misrepresentation of identity for purpose of visit.

An order of the court precluding visitation or contact.


Contact Visiting


Visits with family and friends are an important part of any treatment program. Inmates will be encouraged and given the opportunity to maintain constructive community contacts. The atmosphere for visiting will be as informal and open as is consistent with Ketchikan Correctional Center limitations and individual custody needs.

Visits will occur within the guidelines of 22 AAC 05.130.

RULES OF CONTACT VISITING

The prisoner and visitor for contact visits may embrace and kiss at the beginning and end of the visiting period, but not for extended periods of time. Hand holding during the visit is also permissible;

Petting and/or other sexual activities are prohibited;

The prisoner and visitor(s) must sit in separate chairs during visitation;

Small children may be allowed to sit on a relative prisoners lap at the discretion of the staff member supervising visitation;

Visitors are responsible for keeping their children under control. Unruly, uncontrolled and disruptive children may be cause to terminate a visit;

Smoking is prohibited;

Violation of a visitation rule is cause for termination of a visit;

Any action which contributes a disturbance, as determined by the staff member supervising visitation, may terminate a visit;

Only those non-staff persons who are actually visiting prisoners will be permitted in the visiting area during visitation;

Visitors and prisoners may not exchange any object during visiting. Approved gifts from visitors, however, will normally be limited to money;

Visitors with infants shall be required to leave the visiting area in order to nurse them. This applies to bottle feeding as well, since bottles and other baby supplies are not permitted in the visiting area.

VISITOR DRESS

Visitors must be appropriately attired when entering Ketchikan Correctional Center. When attire is deemed inappropriate, the situation shall be brought to the attention of the Shift Supervisor. Clothing so similar as to confuse identification between visitors and prisoner must be closely monitored.

Visitors may be denied visitation if attire is deemed inappropriate by the Shift Supervisor.





PROPERTY LOCKERS

All visitors must secure all personal property in the lockers provided before entering the facility.

All visitors are responsible for their property, the Department Of Corrections will assume no liability in the event of loss.
