My husband sent me a form for visitation last week and some of the other inmates are telling him that he should be getting his approved list sometime this week and I can go see him this weekend. Now my question is... on my driver's license is my maiden name and on the form that he sent is my married name... should I take my marriage license to show as proof to who I am or will I have to have the correct license with my new name on it?

You are in Texas. Go to the local Driver's License office and apply for your new license TODAY. They will issue a paper license that you carry WITH your old one until your new one arrives in the mail.

I know that it is that easy, but I do not have time to go there to do it yet. That is why I haven't gotten it done yet. I plan to take off some days to take care of things like that, but still haven't gotten around to it yet. Will that stop me from being able to visit?

I don't know if it would prevent the visit but why risk it? Most cities have DPS locations with evening hours although the lines can be much longer then. I went to one at lunch one day and the wait was only 10 minutes.

Yeah you are right, I will try my best and if not... I may have to postpone my visit until I take care of that. Once again thanks!

I believe your I.D. will have to match the name on the visiting form, so get your driver's license changed before you go. Zelda

Just an update... I went to see my husband on Saturday, I did not have time before our visit to get my id changed so I took my marriage license instead and that worked just fine. Thanks to all who have replied!!!
