When one is sent to a halfway house is their rules to go by or do they make them up as they please? for instance how long does one have to wait to have visit rights? and Sundays can one go to church? since they do not conduct and service at the halfway house in Tucson Arizona

Hi.

I thought maybe I could answer your question well as best as I can. When my boyfriend was in a halfway house in AZ he was also on house arrest so they were a little stricter on him. I know if you live in a halfway house you need to work, attend meetings, stay sober, pay rent. I don't see why one couldn't go to church if they aren't on house arrest because as far as I know half way houses have curfews but people are free to go as they please. However, the one he lived at had a no contact rule which meant I couldn't visit him there because they were afraid there might be some contact with us. Also I know he had a thing if he was there for six months and good his PO let him out overnight which was cool. I don't know if I even helped you all halfway houses are different some have stricter rules then others.

Thanks, that helped some, no she is not on house arrest my main concern is I have been cleared for BOP prior to the Halfway house to visit, now they say I have to be cleared to have visitation at the halfway house. I was told after oriention and a week later I could visit. My daughter already has a job and obeys their rules etc. her case manager is not exactly too experience. I need to know what are the rules do they make rules for each one as they please or do they have set rules? whaT ABOUT FAMILY WHAT RULES DO THEY HAVE?

I know someone that has been in a halfway house in Tucson. It was a man though. He told me that each house has its own rules and that they are suppose to be given to the person before entering! I do not know about the family rules though. I sure will try to find out for you if you wish. Oh, and hi Ann! lol

Just curious, Here in California they have to earn their free time like weekend passes to go with family once in a halfway house, is it the same in Arizona? Just curious to know!

My experience in Mesa has been that they pretty much do what they want and cover each others butts. On paper they have rules but I have yet to see any one follow them. For instance my BF had a curfew of 3am unless he had permission. He never followed the curfew and never got in trouble. these halfway houses make a killing and none of them are staffed. One in particular is run by an excon. It is called "Changes"
There are very few who will tell on each other unless they want to be in trouble with the entire house. Its a sham. I am pretty sure you can visit whenever you want and they may tell you he has to go to a church near the house or some crap like that but trust me...... Most half way houses like this do what they want.

and the lady who owns them with this guy drives around in her new mercedes and flirts or sometimes sleeps with the house mates. I guess it just depends on her mood and her attraction at the moment
