My fiance :heart:was just transported to NKSP on March 7th for reception.He is serving a four year sentence with half. I was wondering if there was anyone else who had their man transported on or around this time???We can talk about specific myths and other things at NKSP regarding reception center inmates.Any other information would also be useful:confused: from those who have loved ones already in mainline regarding mail,phones,visiting experiences,etc. Thanks:)

AND IT SEEMS A WAY TO GET LETTERS TO HIM FASTER IS BY SENDING THEM IN A LARGE YELLOW ENEVLOPE.AND AS FAR AS I KNOW AS LONG AS THEY ARE IN RECEPTION YOU CAN ALSO SEND HIM UP TO 50 SHEETS OF PAPER AND 10 STAMPED ENEVLOPES.( NO METAL RINGS ON PAPAER)

Jesse's Girl is absolutely right about the mail and visiting form. My fiance has been there since Feb. 1. I sent my visiting form in for approval along with a form for his two daughters. On March 4th we received notice from the CDC that one daughter was denied (CDC notifies you if you are denied, but it is up to the inmate to notify you if you are approved). On March 2nd, they notified her dad that she was denied. Since we sent the forms in together and I did not get a letter, I took a chance that I was approved and drove 3.5 hrs to see him. Fortunately I had been approved and got to visit. BUT they did not notify my fiance that I was approved until March 8th, one week after I had been approved and I had already visited him on the 5th.

As far as the mail goes, I read from someone else on PTO about using the large manila envelopes and IT WORKS! He gets the mail I send in large envelopes in about 4 - 6 days... the regular size envelopes take weeks.

Good luck and stay strong, reception has been the most difficult time yet for both him and I. I got good news this weekend that he is being "mainlined" to Salinas which is about an 1.5 hrs away for me.

Hang in there and PTO has been an awesome place for me to find support and information.

I do not mind you asking. She was denied because of a Failure to Appear from a speeding ticket she got last year. She knew that she needed to take care of the ticket but had NO idea it would keep her from seeing her dad. She in now more motivated than ever to get the ticket paid off.

Remember with the larger envelopes to add extra postage. It would be rotten to have it returned for postage due.

My Husband was also transferred from Pitchess Detention Center, Castaic, to North Kern State Prison, Delano, on Tuesday March 07th. Luckily, he is only serving a two year term with half and has been there since November 28th, 2005.
So, now I am awaiting the visitation form so I can get out there and see him already. I miss him sooo much. How are you holding up? Hang in there. Our prayers are with you.
By any chance, do you know the visiting guidelines as far as 'dress' code is involved? About two years ago I visited Centinela State Prison, Imperial, and remember something about no jeans? Does this matter at a Reception area? Your help is grately appreciated. Thank you.

but you are allowed to send

as far as the address goes i dont wanna give u the wrong one because my fiances friend wrote me from the same place(hes also in reception)to ask me a favor and the p.o box is different.i think it varies depending on what exact housing assignment he's in.but you should call and check.the number in case you dont have it is....

they are allowed to have 50 peices of paper and 50 envelopes but its 25 papers and 25 envelopes in one big yellow envelope :)

LayBam3: Thanks, as well. I've received 3 letters today. I was soo excited. He says he's in a two man cell. On B yard. B4? Are we in the same, 'area'? I've sent in the Visiting Questionnaire. I've heard it's quick, about three weeks. Best of luck to us both. Or us all for that matter.

My fiance has been at NKSP reception since this past wednesday... Just waiting to hear from him.. I know I can't talk to him for a while but before he went he told me that he would send the visitor's form when he got to wherever he was going... So I am waiting... hi all, my husband transfered to nksp on mar 19. i heard from him about 2 wks later.you all have nothing to worry about your mans sentence its a piece of cake. try a 28 to life. but like you said we are all in this same and hereto support each other. hope all are safe and keep the faith.

my man got 3 years and 16 months but i think the time is going to be run concurrent. we have been married for 13 years in June and we have 6, yes 6 babies. he was acting an ass while he was free though and is also expecting a baby with another girl in a few weeks.(mind u I just had a baby 5 months ago) so naturally we weren't really together when he went in but thats still my husband and I do love him even though i'm mad at him...lol im hurt that he got his dumb butt locked up again, he had just gotten out 15 months ago and he did a year last time. it really sucks how some guys forget that when they get locked up, we all get locked up. but anyway, i'm done venting..........lol

I live in Eagle Rock and will be visiting once I'm approved to do so. WOW 6 kids, well I know you won't have any problems keeping yourself busy.

All I can say is prison must not be all that bad for them to keep going back there, don't you think. They get 3 meals a day, a roof over there heads and no bills to worry about. Oh and they can get all bend out of shape when we don't do whats expected of us but we can't expect anything out of them. What a deal, where can I sign up?!! Ok, I'm just kidding I'm sure it sucks for him, but I really feel that it shouldn't have been so hard for him to go back in the first place. I've told my husband straight out "you suck as a criminal, so try something else because this obviously isn't working for you". He said, well nevermind what he said. I love the dork so you do the best with what you've got.

Have you been approved to visit?
I just received a letter from him today, he included a letter from a guy that's with him in there and he says they're old friends. So, I'm I suppose to start writing to this guy that's in there with him? What am I suppose to do? He talked about the lockdown this weekend, how much he loves and misses me and of course send more money. For once I'd like to get a letter without that request. Oh well, what can you do?

yes I did tell the kids but they think hes in there for violating his parole for getting into a fight and not for the real reason which is possession with intent to sell.

My boyfriend got transferred from Pitchess Detention center in Castaic to North kern County state prison On October 21. He is only doing a 16 month violation at 1/2 time so he should be out in June, 2007. Even though his sentence isn't very long compared to most, it feels like an eternity to me. We just meet 2 months before he went in, we finally found eachother then two months later we are forced to be separated. I feel like part of me is missing, I t hurts soooooo bad not being able to talk to him or see him. This is my first time having a loved one in prision and I'm not dealing with it very well. i feel so sad and empty and I cry all the time. Anyone else know what I'm talking about? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

He is there for reception also. He is in C1B. He said he is getting his mail in 2 to 3 days from the post mark. His only takes a day or two to get to me. It is very hard not to know anything and when you don't hear you think the worst.

Hi, My Man Was Just Taken To N.k.s.p. On The 23rd Of October Too. He Got Sentenced To 9 Yrs. 8 Mos. But We Don't Know Yet If He'll Qualify For Half Time. This Is Our First Time Dealing With Prison, So It's All Too New. I Already Sent My Visiting Form In, But I'm Notsure If He's Gotten Any Of My Letters Yet. I've Written To Him Everyday Since I Got His First Letter Letting Me Know Where He Was. I Just Hope That He Gets Transfered After His 90 Days To Somewhere Here Like Soledad Or Salinas Valley Since I Live In Salinas. If There Is Anything You Ladies Can Tell Me About What To Expect, I'd Appreciate It.

Is Delano the only reception center? my fiance was taken from LA County on 11/13/06 to serve state time, but I have no idea whare hes been taken????? This is his first time in prison . Go here to this site http://app4.lasd.org/iic/ajis_search.cfm type in his last and first name and it will tell you as to where the send him for reception. IT should say IRC (Inmate Reception center) and below that the name of the Prison.
