View Full Version : All of D Yard to Folsom
Cheetoes1 03-11-2006, 10:23 PM I received this information from another group:
We had our IFC meeting today. I was informed by the warden that all of D Yard (SNY) will move to Folsom. The yards will be swapped yard for yard. That means that the guys at Folsom will move to PVSP. This is part of the Right Prison, Right Mission project. They had hoped to have the move done by May, but the warden thinks that is unlikely because of the cost and time involved. He did say that it would be done within the calendar year. He said, however, to remember that with Hickman resigning everything is subject to change.
The warden also said that Jeanne Woodford is not favored to take Hickman's job because she faces a lot of political opposition. He said that the governor's office is likely to change direction and philosophy because it is an election year.
I think this is the time that we as families need to speak up about how their Right Prison Right Mission project affects people, not just numbers. It is completely callous to disregard the families affected by these moves!
luckyme1526 03-11-2006, 11:49 PM Cheetoes,
OMG please tell me that you're kidding! :( That's way too far for me, it's at least an 8 hour drive, it takes me like 5 hours to get to the prison, but with all my stops, it's been taking me up to 7 hours, so it would take me like ten to get to Folsom.
I hope that this doesn't happen, my guy is about to go to the board, so they can't move him, besides, they're not going to start moving yet, but if he gets his parole denied again, I'm going to tell him to request to be transferred to Delano, or another prison closer.
Wow this news really sucks, :blah: yes we do have to speak up, we can't just let them take our loved ones all the way over there, I'm sure that this is fantastic for the people that live closer to Represa, but they should compromise and put the ones that have family in the south closer.
That's just what I think, but I'm willing to help in anything I can, whether it be with petitions or anything else, just let me know! :(

qwerty 03-12-2006, 02:00 AM Oh geeez, I am so sorry for you, Rebeca... I'm pretty sure we'll be next.
Can't they move some of the D's to A yard?
"Right Prison Right Mission" thanks Cheetoes, I forgot that's what it's called, I've been trying to find info online on all this moving... I wonder if CDC has put together any list of what yards are getting moved where or are they just enjoying watching us all worry?
TakinItDaybyDay 03-12-2006, 09:54 AM Yeah, what's going to happen to A yard then? Is there an SNY at folsom or what? I just don't understand the CDC sometimes. They need to figure out what they are doing and who they are affecting.
Cheetoes1 03-12-2006, 02:40 PM They're making all of Old Folsom SNY. I believe it's all going to be level 3 and lower. That is the whole deal with the moves. The prison (Old Folsom) is too old and has too many blind spots, etc. to house higher level inmates. So, I doubt they'll move anyone from A-Yard over there since it's a level 4. Though, they might go ahead and move out the guys in the gym. I will let you know when I hear more about what's going on.

kristinam79 03-12-2006, 05:02 PM I was told the same thing about 3 weeks ago, Corcoran C yard is also getting moved, But I heard it was all put on hold for now until LA county jails can get the 1600 inmates out of county and into state. I doubt this will be happening anytime soon at any of the prisons. I was told by the counselor that it would be awhile. My husband parole 7/9 and he told me that my husband would still be there and not to worry about him being moved.
this new mission thing is going to effect alot of people in a negative way, which of course CDC doesnt care about
cowboy's girl 03-16-2006, 08:32 PM THis is my first time here. thanks to all for the info. i have been reading for hours. I am in NY while my man is in PVSP. i appreciate any info i can learn. we need to stick together. thanks!
Cheetoes1 03-18-2006, 11:51 AM A-Yard Gym will be moving along with D-yard to Old Folsom.
KellyA.
luckyme1526 03-18-2006, 06:07 PM Oh wow that sucks, well I know it's a good thing for those who live up north, but it sucks for us. Thanks for the info, what I don't understand is that my man is a level 4, is he going to be moved too? He hasn't been moved because he's up for parole next month and they can't move him.

Nit4LIFE 03-21-2006, 09:10 AM My hubby just moved from PVSP to KVSP (Delano II). I hadnt heard this , so they will be moving all of the SNY yards to Folsom or just PVSP for now or do they plan to make the whole prison SNY? I would like that the a whole prison was SNY that way I dont have to be dogging when Im in the visitor line. But I would hate that it was far away and would make traveling there crazy, if that was the case we would need to begin a carpool for all going there from the same areas. I feel secure with the SNY ladies be/c were al on the same boat. I'll google that right thing posted to see what I found, gogd tip since I never heard of it.
luckyme1526 04-13-2006, 06:06 AM I just talked to my boyfriend on Sunday and he said that it looked as if the move wasn't going to happen after all, but we don't know how true this is, and I heard from a friend that nothing was in writing yet, hopefully it was just a fluke.
Rebeca
kristinam79 04-13-2006, 09:47 AM the move to folsom will most likely be happening by October. It is still planned, but it was just held up due to the problems in LA County and getting all those parole violators off to state prison.
Kristina
luckyme1526 04-13-2006, 08:02 PM I heard about that too in the beginning, so after my bf said what he did, I called Sacramento today and they told me that there wasn't anything in writing and that it was still a thought. I guess a lot of people are saying that how are they going to move their loved ones so far away. Like mine for instance, I can barely make it over there twice a month, can you imagine how it will be if he goes all the way to Represa? :(

qwerty 04-18-2006, 02:02 AM Awww, you're so sweet... I'll have the 411 next weekend, stay tuned!
luckyme1526 04-20-2006, 09:38 PM Yay, I will be really waiting on that one, I heard that there will be a lot of changes. I hope that they are for the better though, maybe he will be transferred a little closer to me! Woo-Hoo! :)
Rebeca
qwerty 04-22-2006, 12:59 PM Well, here's the "vision," it's not exactly a "plan" yet, not set in stone... but the idea is definitely to make PV a reception center and not have SNY yards there anymore. There is no time frame for this, though, because as we all know, CDC(R) is going through some major shakeups right now.
luckyme1526 04-22-2006, 06:43 PM Oh man that sucks, but thank you so much for the info. I just hope that he can get transferred to a facility closer to me before that, if not, with the rush of things they'll just end up sending him anywhere they want. So I will talk him in to trying to get transferred to Delano or Centinela. Centinela has SNY's too right?
Rebeca
TerriB 04-23-2006, 01:34 PM From what I know they are going to try to make this move between now and end of summer for all the prisons that only have like one or two yards SNY ... although like many of you I am unsure of when it will happen. I know Corcoran, Avenal will be sending their to Folsom also... it's a wait and see deal again just like always with the CDC :(
one_love14 04-24-2006, 02:58 PM Ok...Im trippin out right now. My husband is in D-yard. but he's classified. Whats SNY??? PVSP KVSP??? I talked to my husband and he hasnt told me anything yet...
one_love14 04-24-2006, 03:00 PM lol...I thought you were talking about Centinela..you can ignore my questions above...
qwerty 04-25-2006, 02:43 AM It's OK Snoopys LOL... :)
Lucky, the SNYs are all getting shaken up, so I don't know about Centinela. Folsom for sure will be SNY, that conversion has already started. Lancaster had them but will lose them, just like PV. The older prisons will probably get most of the SNYs, like DVI, Soledad and SQ. The basic idea is they want to use the older prisons for SNYs and the newer ones for GP.
Again, the time frame is up for grabs, they really don't know when they are going to be able to do all this. Summer was the goal but now it's up for grabs.
Soneat 04-25-2006, 07:42 AM Hey all.. I heard that Centinella D yard was supposed to be moved last August! So they really are dragging if they are planning on doing anything. And as far as distance? Well they do not care. I drive well over 5 1/2 hours to see my man, and I am outside of the 250 mile radius. But that only helps me if I don't see him for thirty days (which turns into 5 weeks when it's really counted sometimes six.) And if I wait that long to see him I'll get my whole visit. But I just can't wait that long and I end up getting terminated in 3 hours. It sucks.
ixqgod 04-26-2006, 11:36 AM If the arrest, conviction, and sentencing to prison rate keeps going as it has there won't be room for any one! I think they have gone so overboard on sentencing laws. It doesn't make sense to move anyone around. It would be too costly and confusing for CDCR. Oh wait, isn't that how they do things now? (couldn't resist the sarcasm, sorry)
Basically, I'm not holding my breath for this to happen. I think there is too much dust to settle first, from the name change of CDC to CDCR. I worked at a CA prison. In orientation they told us, "they are here to be kept off the streets, not for rehabilitation". Obviously they were not into rehabilitation. To change the minds of all those desk people and officers will take some doing and lotsa time.
So it's going to take some planning to figure out the "move". -C

luckyme1526 05-30-2006, 06:38 PM Hi,
This is about Pleasant Valley State Prison, I really have no idea about Centinella. You might want to try posting in the Centinella forum. Good luck and I hope that you hear from your brother very soon.

Cheetoes1 09-03-2006, 10:40 PM Starting September 15th, inmates in "D" yard will start transferring to Old Folsom. Also, Level 3 Inmates in "A" yard Gym will go as well :(

luckyme1526 09-05-2006, 09:28 PM Are you serious? I thought they were going to do the moves on the 25th? Well actually start on the 25th.

:) hi all... well my husband is currently in Folsom state prison (old) and i've been hearing rumors saying that folsom will be just all PC and lifers.. so would my husband be moving to either pleasantvally or corcoran??? he's only been thea for a month and hopefully he gets move so he'll be alot closer to me..:)
Enjay 09-07-2006, 10:31 PM I just got a letter from my hubby and he says they are moving them out starting the 25th. He also said that when they get there they will be on lock down for 3-6 months. Whats up with that????!!!! They never have done that before when he was moved but maybe its because they have to move ALL of the other guys OUT of Folsom before they can be let off of lock down. Just keeping you up on what I know.
Enjay 09-11-2006, 09:56 PM My husband just wrote and said they are not sending them now!!! Geez!! They all got those surveys ro fill out if they want to leave CA. Hope he gets sent here!!
ixqgod 09-13-2006, 04:27 PM When you hear anything coming out of any of the prisons remind yourself, it's election time soon. Until they actually MOVE no one is going anywhere. The upper staff aren't telling the lower staff anything. Everything right now is rumors.
I read an article that stated the federal govenment will be taking over our prisons. That will be good. They will get us back on track. I hope. -C
KatieO 09-13-2006, 05:58 PM Amen!
luckyme1526 09-15-2006, 04:22 PM Jeez I hope that the Federal Government really does take over the prison system, I think that would help, I don't know why, I just think it would a lot. Or at least I hope it will help.
nitamac 09-23-2006, 03:15 PM Hello everybody; My son has just been transferred to P.V. last week. Does anybody have an update regarding SNY yard at P.V. moving to Old Folsom?
Deerlover 09-24-2006, 06:43 AM I( talked to our son yesterday and now the "rumor" is that the whole thing is on hold again. Geese, I sure wish we could get some reliable information. He doesn't know if he should send his package list or not. It is posted that there will not be any packages for the 4th quarter and they haven't taken the signs down.
Hugs, Deerlover
ixqgod 09-25-2006, 05:12 PM Funny, I called and spoke with someone at the prison and they said my husband told me wrong. That it wasn't legal for them to "not get their packages"!!!! They said that. Evidently left hand doesn't know the illegal stuff the right hand is doing. Maybe they are scaring enough of the people so they won't have too many packages to process for the holiday time.
I really don't understand the system. I know how I feel about it, but I still don't understand why they have to play games. There are actually innocent people and repentative people there! It's just not fair. I know, who said it would be. -C
Deerlover 09-25-2006, 05:18 PM Our son said that the packages were not to be sent because of the move. He is on D yard and that's the one that is supposed to go to Folsom. Now he is being told that it's not going to happen. I told him to send me his list anyway. I just wish they would give us the straight scoop. Our loved ones get so little and they sure look forward to our letters and packages. If I hear anything I will let you all know.
Hugs, Deerlover
jsbyler 11-08-2006, 06:00 PM I was wondering if anyone has heard any updates on this one. Robbie says that he's been hearing rumors the move is back on starting in Jan 07. Does anyone have some concrete info?? Thanks :)
leapinlene 11-09-2006, 01:46 AM does anyone have a loved one out at the camp?
HotlantaLady 11-23-2006, 10:46 PM I'm enjoying reading all the threads which are very informative. I live in Atlanta, GA and visited my friend in B last weekend in Oct. There has been 'talk' of moving him out of CA to another state accepting PVSP inmates. Does anyone know how that is going? When I last spoke with him (last week), he didn't mention it and seemed rather down in spirit. Also does anyone have the address for CSIC so that I can get his back records. I think it's CSIC...it's in Sacramento. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
jsbyler 11-23-2006, 11:18 PM I only know two tiny little bits of info on this. Some counselors have been calling the guys in and asking if they'd be willing to transfer out of state. I also know at least a month ago they sent out a survey asking if anyone would like to volunteer if they meet the requirements. If your friend qualifies and wants to be transferred out of California he should get in contact with his counselor so they can begin the process. My understanding is they're in such an over-crowding crisis that any inmate who meets requirements they'd love to pawn off on someone else.

A CDC person I just met, fairly high up, told me all the major moves between Cali prisons are on hold for now.
First, they have to do the out of state moves and take other action to comply with the new federal judge's order to reduce overcrowding asap.
