Coffield Unit is in the Palestine area. Do you have a loved on there? If you do tell us about it. This is your place to discuss or chat with others who visit or have been in this prison.

If you do tell us about it. This is your place to discuss or chat with others who visit or have been in this prison. farmgirl 03-12-2006, 04:59 AM I have a dear friend in Coffield. He's been there over 16 years now. I've known him since we were kids (First Grade). We even dated on and off for 10 years. Despite his charges, he is a good man; giving and sweet. I want to see him freed so he can get on with his life. Finally live it. Settle down with the right woman. We've been writing for 6 months now and he sounds better than I have ever known. He is finally at peace with his demons. magnoliahot 08-25-2007, 11:23 PM I have a friend that is in Coffield and I just recently found him. I recieved a letter from him and he too seems in good spirits. I have read several postings about Coffield and dont really understand how it is all set up and what it means to be in a certain place. Any help would be appreciated. funtie8 08-26-2007, 07:02 AM Coffield has a main building, boot camp and trusty camp. Do you know which one your friend is housed in? magnoliahot 08-26-2007, 03:33 PM I dont know, he did not mention where he is staying. Would his number (6 digits) help me know in which area he lives in? funtie8 08-26-2007, 05:16 PM No the TDCJ number won't help you. I bet he is in the main building because he would certainly tell you if he was in the boot camp or trusty camp. Both of those of reserved for offenders approved by the warden. Coffield used to have a bad reputation back in the 90's but I am not sure now. Michael loved the boot camp when he was there. The building is one of the older facilities in TDCJ. I'm sure when you visit or write he'll be able to tell you anything you want to know. magnoliahot 08-26-2007, 05:18 PM Thats true, but I do appreciate you taking the time to try to answer my question. You are a kind person. I do know that he attends the church service every week. raymondsluv 09-07-2007, 12:34 AM My Husband Is In Coffield He Has Been There 16 Yrs Now.(he Was Sentenced 35 Years Total) He Was Denied PAROLE Again So I Don't Know When Are If He Will Get Out I'm From San Antonio, tex. GrnEyesRock 09-14-2007, 11:18 AM I am very new to this...so bare with me please. I have a dear friend...well a little more than a friend in Coffield. He wants me to visit him, but I have never done this before. Any help!!! magnoliahot 09-14-2007, 04:05 PM I also have a friend in Coffield but I have not gone to visit him yet. I am anxiously awaiting approval to be able to see him...I am sorry I am not much help. (: sassie_tx_gal 09-14-2007, 07:28 PM My soon to be husband was recently transferred from Coffield to Clements. Visitation is worth the hassle, even if it's not a contact visit. Your vehicle will be searched before entering the unit grounds, then you will need to check in at the little hut directly outside of the unit, then go through a metal detector once inside the main building of the unit. Don't take in anything other than your ID, keys and $20 in change. No paper money is allowed. The desk is to the right of the metal detector; the CO working the desk will keep your ID until the end of the visit. You will be assigned a "slot". G and J are the ad-seg visitation; H and I are the reg visitation. From my experiences, the CO's there are very helpful, and for the most part, polite (believe it or not). Visitation is Sat and Sun from 8 - 5. Get there no later than 7:30 if you don't want to have to wait for a visit. Make sure that you're in jeans, and a short sleeve shirt. Anything less will get your visit denied. PM me if you need to or have any more questions. Donellsgirl 10-08-2007, 09:24 AM My Fiance Is On Coffield Unit. I Have A Question For Those Who Have A Loved One There. The First 2 Times I Went To Visit Him They Let Me Through Even Though My Id Was Expired. Then I Tried To Go For His Birthday And They Wouldnt Let Me In. Has This Ever Happened To Anyone Else? Willsgirl 10-09-2007, 10:47 AM All I can say is some pay attention, some just look to make sure the stuff match. You just caught them slipping twice. IRCO2 10-10-2007, 05:56 AM Thank them for allowing you to go in twice and get your ID renewed... Most places would have stopped you the first time. Octobersjewel 10-10-2007, 02:29 PM I thought I had posted here before but I guess not. My Sweetie is at Coffield and has been there since May of this year. He plays the piano for the church and sings if I'm not mistaken. I know definately he plays the piano. He is serving a 15 yr sentence and he has only did 2 so far. In my experience the COs are very nice and friendly, my first visit they couldn't find my husband because he was playing basketball and when they finally tracked him down the CO took the time to come and tell me the situation and he would be down shortly, he wanted to shower first. I thought that was nice of her she could have just left me sitting and wondering. I have heard that they will cut your time short but that has never happened to me so in my book they are cool. dwright 10-10-2007, 07:46 PM My husband is at Coffield also. He has been at Coffield for 5 years and is in the boot camp. I have been to 4 other prisons and they are all the same. You have some good CO's that are respectful to you when you visit and of course you have the rude ones that you just ignore. The snacks are expensive and get more and more expensive it seems, the machines sometimes work and sometimes they don't. But you get used to it. We live in Dallas so it isn't too far of a drive but sometimes it is a pain to drive, even though you want to see them. But hey we used to have to drive to west texas to see him, and that was awful it was a 6 hour drive one way. So Coffield is pretty good for us.... Forget all the mess and stuff you have to go through there and enjoy your time with your husband, friend, etc.......:) Willsgirl 10-10-2007, 08:01 PM dwright, your right about the snack, they are high and it seems like every month they go up more. monica o 11-07-2007, 09:46 PM my boyfriend is at coffield. he will have served half his time (7.5yrs out of 15yrs) in february 2008. he says his parole hearing went good. waiting to see what the board thinks... rachmans 11-09-2007, 09:37 PM can anyone tell me how this unit is ? Please I am new to all of this, and I am concerned for my brother. dwmgirl 11-14-2007, 08:16 PM Coffield has been a decent one compared to the many others. My husband is there and has been for 12 years. He hasn't had any sort of problems. he is housed at the outside boot camp (dorm room). His brother is also there and again, says the same thing, it's one of the better ones overall. MzTRAViEZA 12-09-2007, 04:14 PM MY JOEz AT THE COFFiELD UNiT iN AG SEG THOUGH ANYONE ELSE iN AG SEG?
