As long as PVSP accepts books from Amazon.com, the books WILL NOT count as a quarterly package. I send my man books all the time (to HDSP) from Barnes and Noble, and he gets them in about a week.
The package from Access SecurePak should get to Scott within about 10 days. It all depends on what you purchased. If you ordered CDs that takes extra time because Access orders the CDs from a different vendor and must wait to receive those before putting the inmate's package together.

Hi,
I'm an old pro in PVSP now so I can answer that question for you. :p
They do accept books from Amazon and from Barnes and Noble, they do not count as a special purchase and they can get as many books as you want to send them. It depends on the mail room when they get their package, usually it doesn't take too long for them to get it.
If by any reason the mail room thinks that the books are inappropriate they well send them back to the vendor and then they will notify you about it. Hope this helps! :)

Do institutions accept books from Borders? Do different prisons have different vendors?

Most prisons will accept books as long as they come directly from the vendor. But it depends on the prison. I know some prisons accept things sent from Amazon.com (for example), but others do not. Not every prison accepts the same vendors. Isn't your husband at Lancaster? I am not very familiar with that prison so your best bet would be to call the prison directly and ask to be transferred to the mail room. A staff member there will be able to tell you which vendors are acceptable for that prison.

Almost all of the CA prisons accept Borders books as well.
