Well ladies I have some GOOD NEWS to share:yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: My Hunny and I, FINALLY got our marriage packet!!!!!!!! I got it yesterday and it is in the mail today.. I am so excited, I can almost jump out of my skin.. I hope we are approved right away, I am hoping by April ( Idoubt it though:( ) because both of our birthday's are in April and he will be home next March, so that will be a great Anniversary present:D

~Lilone~Nothing really new here. Haven't heard anything on the appeal yet. He has 15 business days from the day he receives it to respond so thats coming up next week. I just wish he wouldn't take so long. I mean if he's gonna deny me just get it over with already. We haven't recieved our marriage packet yet and I don't know what's going on with the visits yet so I doubt we will be getting married in April. But Sinnerslady did get hers already so the ball must be rolling somewhere.

~Sinnerslady~ Congrats girl, You still might get that marriage in April because these will be the first in the prison so it shouldn't take them too long to get them started. Then again with this prison who knows. Keep us posted and if I've gotten my visits back by the time you guys do it maybe we can go out for your last night as a single woman.:D Also let us know what the packet is like so we know what to expect.

He also stated that the lockdown, shouldnt affect the visits. But I would call and verify, before making the trip up there. I plan on trying to go Sunday. i hear ya; i miss mine like no other :( after over a year of no phone calls its amazing how used to getting calls from him everyday again i got. . . now im lost.

usually they still let them have visits if they are on lockdown so whoever get to visit this weekend will have to update those of us who cant.

hopefully someone hears from their man soon. . . i dont think they typically stay lockdown for a long time here like other places hes been. at least i hope that rumor is true!

This month really is looking better for me. I think I found a new apartment!! I live in this stupid little studio with my two kids but an apartment that I used to rent with my ex husband is for rent and I know the manager so I might be able to move there plus he will accept $100 less than what he really wants which is great. I'm so excited. Now if everything else would fall into place I would be on top of the world.

I am getting my mail within 2 days and I am in Phoenix Az !! I am loving it, it would take at least a 4 days when he was at Folsom. I love it and his way it's about a week. Things are looking brighter!!:hifive:

ok. . . maybe im just crazy but im putting my madness out here cuz i gotta vent it out. . . before this move he was really good about writing to me every single day. the week he was getting ready to move he wrote once cuz all his stuff was transpacked. oh i knew that would happen. then after he got to KVSP it was about 2 weeks with no mail; finally he got some paper and envelope from someone and wrote a quickie to me; then when he got the supplies i sent, he wrote a letter to me and one to 2 of the kids. . . i havent gotten another letter since. not one. . . its like weeks now. . . . he swore up and down to me that he wrote and told me the days he wrote but how is EVERYONE else getting letters from there but somehow its just me thats not getting mail? somehow i find that hard to believe.

so ok is it me or what? i know he was always really good at writing before and i shouldnt doubt him but this is getting really ridiculous and im spoiled and hard for me not getting my mail everyday and yeah im whining and really crabby so im hoping i get a call tonight so maybe i will get over being mad at him.

talk about waiting until the last minute. . . . so my husband just called :) at freaking 850 pm! i was sitting here in class getting all bummed looking at the clock and seeing it was almost nine and the phone finally rang. . . he is all stressed cuz he asked if i had gotten this letter he sent and that letter and i told him i still havent gotten anything. . . . so we talked about it. yes i feel bettter at least i know hes writing, even if im not getting the letters yet; hopefully soon! but i did get to talk to him and hear his voice and tell him i might not make it up there this weekend, which hes really bummed about but my son just came down with the stomach flu on top of the dog situation so yeah. . . i hope though still that i can come up with a way to get up there this weekend. we need the time.

Its been a while, I've been meaning to get on and keep up but my job is hectic right now. I work for the State of California, I am a case manager for people receiving Cal-Works (wefare) and we have been going threw some major changes, so I have been working like a dogg.

Anyways can someone enlighten me on the lockdown, what happened? Are the So-Cal Hispanics still on lockdown? My man is on D yard, do you know if they are eligible for visits this weekend? Someone please keep me updated. Damn I miss my old'man I just sent him some picture and they were returned in the mail, so I think I messed up on the postage..

He doesnt call me as often as the rest of your men, he just got a job in the lay library which is exciting since he can start finding people to help with his appeals. Currently as you all know he is a lifer with no parole..

I talked to my husband last night (Thursday night). he said they got off lockdown wednesday and the visiting number said visits are on for this weekend so that is all good.

well, I live in Lancaster and it started snowing at 10 a.m. it is a light snow right now but we are on snow watch until 6 pm tomorrow. From my understanding Gorman (off the 5) received alot of snow already. Please be careful going up there ladies

I was MIA for a quick second, I am heading out tomarrow to see man, I havent been out there for a few weeks, and I really need some attention. Plus I will be taking our three kids, they need to see their papi as well. So How have you been, it sounds like the mail is doing better, I just got some mail returned to me and that sucked since they were pictures of our last visit, blown up a bit bigger than the polaroids. Snow, that always scares me, so I will drive very safely.. Last time I went in thunderstorms, but I went alone, without our kids.

I talked to my husband last night (Thursday night). he said they got off lockdown wednesday and the visiting number said visits are on for this weekend so that is all good.

i know hwat you mean i have been SWAMPED at work and at home. its been insane lately! but i am happy to hear your man is doing ok and he got a good job!

OOH No it sounds like things have been a bit rough for you to get out and visitm dont let those barriers get in your way. That is the devil buliding those obsticles infront of you, keep heading forward and believe me it is so well worth it. Me too I am so afraid to drive in these weather conditons, but the pay off of holding my mans hand and getting that special kiss is so worth taking the risk, make a little prayer before you hit the road, and it will be all good.

Dont loose sight of your love, but i dont blame you I would have taken that as a sign as well. Remember ladies, "girls it aint easy" to walk in our shoes, no one out of our lives can exactly understand why we travel such long distances to be with the men that we adore. well the mailroom guy is becoming my new best friend. . . well ok probably not that way on his part haha but anyway i talk to him about once a week because i have sent a couple money orders that still havent posted to his books; im being told that mail is running about 2-3 weeks behind. my husband has been getting mail from me (i write daily) but the date order is all weird; he is just now getting some from way back in feb and also got one from last week, so its hard to tell. i know the mailroom is really understaffed last i heard, which was my phone call to them on thursday morning, so that might be the problem.

i would also call the records department and make sure you have his housing info correct in case he has been moved or something.

man talk about keeping us off kilter; he never calls past 845. . . i hadnt heard from him all day and had given up and at 905 the phone rang and it was him. he hadnt seen the news yet when i talked to him yesterday; tonight he was just relieved that i was home because he saw a big accident on the news and said one of the cars looked like mine and he had been worried sick all day and told me not to even try and come this week.

he also said he found out today that no more weekend dayroom or yard if they dont have a job; when he got classified they told him a job they had for him but he hasnt started it yet, so supposedly he cant call on the weekends anymore until he is working. so that stinks really freaking bad.

I wanted to inform ya'll that I did go this Saturday to go see my man, and I left my house at about 6:00 in the morning, and hit the 5 at about 7:30-8:00 and the drive there was fine, the drive back was a bit scary. I went with my three children and AMEN we made it safely.

It was so good to see my man again, and have our kids spend time with him. I must admit this time it seemed a lot more relaxed then other visits. We were able to hug and lean into each other more than other times. It was cold as hell and it began raining when we were getting in and leaving, so of course trying to rush in heals was not helping my feet any. He seemed to be in good spirtis, he did mention the lock down to me and he said they had checked all cells and came across a few weapons, but again their lockdown was short lived. He said he would mail me the incident report so I could read what happened.

I was trying to surprise my man this weekend but AGAIN he called me the night before I headed out, and as you all know he doesnt call me regularly maybe one every three weeks. I would not recomment anyone driving in snowy conditions, it is scarry and dangerous. On the way back I was literally driving in slush. It was not pleasant, I did pull over in Frasier PArk and let my kids play int he snow, and then it started coming down, they had a blast...

Man I wish I had the internet at home. Nothing new here. I have a bad ear infecion so I have to go to the doctor today on my lunch break.:( Well this is the week they have to send me the letter. My man called last night and was really frustrated and bummed out. He is getting sick of that place and how they never get back to you when they are supposed to. He sent in a request for a marriage packet about 3 months ago and no one has gotten back to him yet. Plus they are waiting until the last minute to get back at me so he's just feeling down and out. And I feel so bad that I can't do anything about it. And to top it all off the phone cut off when we only had 120 seconds left and we didn't get to say goodbye:(. I'm glad to hear that everyone is safe and that no one got caught up in that storm.

After I crashed the car a few weeks back, in the rain, I am scared to drive in bad weather. I wont be able to go up and visit till the weekend of the 25th and 26th. My babies are turning 1 and 2, and we are having a party on Sunday, and I need to finish preparing for it on Saturday.

Misssusiequisie, at least you will know by the end of the week, what the warden has decided. Hang in there. We all have our fingers crossed for you!!

Yeah thank god we made it safe, like I said it was a great visit.
Since I was last there they changed a few things in the processing room, they set up the chairs and the benches a bit different. I got there at about 9:30-10:00 and it went smooth, I have been there as early as 8:00 and it is more hectic. Things went pretty smooth, accept I had to literally power walk to visisting room D in heels and in the rain. I wish they would try to accomadate for those type of situations. But everything went well, and my man said he is getting his mail quicker, and that was really good to hear, he was excited about that.

I hope the weather is better this weekend, so you and the rest of the ladies can make the trip out there and spend some time. I feel you, I so desperatley need that time with my man, of course I had a few breaking moments yesterday, were reality sets in and I get overwhelmed. It gets hard to imagine the rest of our lives possibly being like this forever. I want him home to walk our daughter down the aisle, and watch our boys play football. He is my high school sweet heart, and I cant imagine a life time of this...:( :( :(

Thanks girls, I can handle them messin with us but I'm just concerned for him. I mean I know he can handle it but he has anger issues and I don't want him getting all stressed out and doing something to get himself into trouble. It doesn't even matter at this point if we get the marriage packet or not since we don't know what is going on with our visits but he is just frustrated that they are taking so long to get back to him. One thing he pointed out last night too was that in their orientation packets it says that first time offenders for drug smugling only get their visits suspended for 90 days and they get non-contact visits and he can't even have non-contact. Well he can have visits with anyone just not with me. And he said he doesn't want anyone else to visit him. At times I feel helpless too because they are making me feel like a criminal all over something that was an accident. I wish I could just get the letter already and get it over with.
The only good news that I did get today was that my JCPenny account was increased so I can go get some new stuff for my new apartment. YAY!

i know what you mean; we also have a life sentence we are dealing with and i cant think past today. . . its too overwhelming to think of 10 years or more like this ya know? one day at a time and keep the communication going and you will be ok ;)

Ok Ladies,

I usually would get there early and park on the side of the road, waiting for them to allow us onto the prison property, and then it would be cold as hell outside waiting for the CO to come out with the visiting form. The only thing with that is that it does get crowded inside, and now the CO says that if there is not siting room inside you have to go outside and wait out there, oh hells no. The only thing I didnt like about this last visit was that when we got there at about 9:30 we didnt get called until about 10:00 we walked to the vistiing room around 10:15 and my baby didnt get in until 11:00. One time I went to visit I was literally sitting in the visiting room from like 8:30 until almost 10:00 they were lagging on getting the inmates out becaue they were having breakfast.

So 10:00 seems like a reasonable time to get there, and like that you have the sun up on the road, and can feel more comfortable on the road. Regardless you will have to deal with the craziness it just seems to come with the territory..

You know, that was what i was wondering. it seems that we all get there really early and line up and freeze our butts off and still dont get in until 10 am; if we get there at 10 am maybe the worst of the line is gone and we can actually just get right in? if some of us go early and some late, maybe that would help stagger it out and keep us from freezing our butts off out there? whatcha guys think?

I think we all go through a few days of that after visits; its hard to go from "our world" to theirs and then back again the way we do. . . the time with them in there is like time in a vacuum you know. there are so many rules on what we can do, how often we can touch, how loud you can be, etc., it takes alot of getting used to. i dont know if it ever gets better, but i do know that i dont cry everytime i leave now like i used to, if that helps!

i dont know how many of the actual people who visit are on here, but i agree that if at least we on here try and organize somehow maybe it will help; we all want to get in as soon as we can to see our loved ones, it would be good if we can figure out the most organized and easiest way to do this.

let us know when you get back what time you got there, what time you got in line and how long you waited outside before you were called to process since we are trying to figure out a way to make the process a lil more smooth sailing for all of us!

and make sure you call tomorrow AND friday to make sure he got classified and is in the computer before you go. . . that way you have no prob when you go in

Well it sounds like a good idea, next time I go visit, I will keep all of you posted on what time I plan on heading out and see how long it takes to process us in. But in reality there are so many people who visit that even if we scatter up it still will not really change things up a whole lot.

I'm telling you when I got in on Saturday I must have gotten there about 9:30 and it still took me a good while until they called my name, and there were some poeple in there not as many as in the early morning. Of course I kinda figured out what kinda works for me, the later I get in the better sitting arrangement I get, I would always be right up front in the first table, and now it seems the lil' later I went, i got a table towards the back, which gave us a little bit more freedom. I think gettin in at about 9-10 is your best bet regardless...

Anyways your right inalicesworld, I dont cry anymore, I cry once I am on the road and the reality of the trip hits me. Or when I am home playing some old skool, washing my dishes, all of a sudden it hits me that I am alone raising our kids, and just getting by. Then some days I am so impowered and I tell myself this aint nothing atleast he is still here with us things could have been different and he could be dead. I get this rush of like, this is why I am still standing, I love him and I can never love someone else like I love him, and he loves me and I know this. When I replay our converstations or his kiss in my head, it makes me realize why I keep doing what i'm doing. So your right one day at a time.. Thanks so very much, I guess since it has only been three years it still feels so fresh to me. I have never had him be away from me this long, and with a life sentence w/ no parole just makes things even more depressing...

I wont be visiting this weekend:( . I do know when I was the week bebore this last. I was like the 31st car in line outside the gate, and I got slip 54, and I made it back to the visiting room just after 9:00. Which I though was pretty good, considering all the people. Ok, I'm back. I didn't go last weekend as it snowed. The previous week I got there around 8:30 and had a 112 number and didn't get in till around 11AM. There were only 3 tables left on C yard and I think they may have started terminating some of the visits as the front tables left pretty early and got photos. Guess they were terminated for other reasons or they wouldn't ahve allowed photos. This may have been to accomodate more visitors. So don't come too early or too late. They told me to come back in two hours when I got there and when I got back early, they had already called his name for the second time so honestly, they don't give accurate predictions yet. Almost blew it I think on that one. Bottom line they don't know what they are doing yet and are changing the system every day. Weird thing is the CO at the table remembered my number. Don't know if this is because I was the only old white lady there, or what. I came up and he said, oh you are #112 aren't you it should be about half an hour. It wasn't it was a lot less. Kind of threw me off. He also told me that everything is changing every day on how the run visiting and they had to pull 4 CO's off the yards to help as they were overwhelmed. Last week was pretty quiet as most of us couldn't get there due to the snow.

Just to add to one thing, I have one little confession. I do talk to mine a lot outloud in the car. I have one of those cell phone headsets, so everyone who sees me driving around talking thinks I'm on the phone. Only I know, I'm having these long conversations with him. Actually I'm saying, Baby, why aren't you calling, or are you OK or relax or something. Only I know, he knows and you know, what I am really doing. At least this is a good cover to not make you look too nuts. Know what I mean. I feel so silly sometimes, I make myself laugh and hope that everyone thinks who ever I am on the phone with told me a good joke. I think you understand. Smile.

If you get there before 745, there will be a line of cars, outside the gate. If you get there between 745 and 800, there is a line of people outside the visiting processing door. I don't know what to do now and I'm afraid that this is going to take forever. I sent the letter certified with a receipt card sent back to me. I mailed it on the 15th and they signed for it on the 22nd. 15 business days from the 22nd is today. I know that they can probably use a million excuses as to why there is a delay. Like maybe he didn't get it that day or maybe it has to be postmarked by the 15th. But I spoke to this lady I know who's son is in the system and she makes it seem like they will get back to me when they are darn good and ready to. I understand that this is not high up there on their priority list but its important to me. I mean its not a complicated issue. Just a yes or no answer and he put an appeal in on the inside too and they haven't gotten back to him either. I don't know its just very discouraging and I wish I knew what rights I have. Its not like Im asking for a lot. Sorry to go on and on I'm just very frustrated :angry: .

You know what I haven't tried calling. I'm kind of scared to call or nervous plus it did say he had 15 business days to respond and that was only up yesterday by my calculations. Maybe they have a different calculation system :rolleyes: . I want to call but I don't know what to say. Dont be afraid to call. Just explain the situation, and what you wrote in the letter. No attitude is allowed, so take a deep breath, and pick up the phone, and try to find out what the heck is going on!!!!!!You know what I haven't tried calling. Okay so I had been calling all morning but no one answered. When I call my heart beats so hard I could swear its going to pop out of my chest. I don't know why I'm so nervous. Anyhow I finally got through and asked for the wardens office. I told the lady that answered that I had sent an appeal letter to the warden regarding my visits and I was wondering if that was the right process or if I had to fill out a specific form. She said if it has to deal with visiting it goes to Lt. Castro who is the visiting Lt. and also the lady who suspended my visits. I said even if it was an appeal? Maybe if you get a chance to talk to her and explain yourself, she may reconsider. Things have had a chance to cool down, sometimes things are done in the heat of the moment. From what I know about appeals or complaints, they always send an appeal (or complaint) to the person mentioned so They can provide their input and give their report. This doesn't necessarily mean that the visiting Sgt is the one to make the final decision. It just means that the don't bypass the person mentioned and may just want to get all of the information. As long as what you said was factual in your appeal and didn't call the visiting Sgt a bitch or something, and gave a logical and clear explanation in your appeal, then she will give her side and someone will make a decision. From a Warden's viewpoint, if he acted independently on an appeal or complaint without consulting his staff, he could make some big mistakes.

This process is something we all need to know. I know of someone who wrote to Sacramento headquarters, and it came down like a bomb to the prison to handle and to get the full data. Probably same with an appeal. It goes back to the person mentioned, and they get their data.

SOooooo- if anyone files an appeal, or something, we need to know it WILL go back to the person involved. Granted if we write it very calmly, politely and factually, then perhaps it will even sway their opinion. Putting adjectives and defaming things about them isn't going to help and will only them something to fully justify their position. Hope this helps. This is the way the line works from what I know.

Keep in touch with the Appeals coordinator on the status, and find out what the next step is for your appeal with them. Be polite, etc as I'm sure you always are!

Well, I guess after all I am going to visit tomorrow!! My man are in the middle of a tiff, and he has decided to shut me out with his letters and phone calls. I am so angry, and I need answers, and the only way I am going to get them is to make a visit. Im even more angry, as I am having a party for my boys on Sunday, and didnt have the time to visit this weekend. So now I have to try and get most of the house cleaned today.:angry:

I was thinking last night as to why they would give the appeal to the Sgt. that terminated me to make a decision about it. I mean what would be the purpose of appealing to a higher person if they are just going to give it right back to the person who made the decision in the first place. It didn't make sense because the decision should be made by an outside party that can make a conscience decision based on the facts. It may be as NancyP said and they are just trying to get her side of the situation which is fine because everything that I said in the letter is true and correct. In the letter, which I will try and post later today, I was very polite and I said nothing rude about her or anyone. It's not her fault what happened she was just doing her job but they took it to an extreme on this one. Anyhow as I was thinking about it last night I began to realize that maybe they misunderstood me when I called. You see my man also filed an appeal (602) from inside about this same thing and I know those go to the appeals co-ordinator so they might be thinking that that is the one I was talking about. I'm not sure if the outside appeals go to that same person so I am going to call back again today and ask. The reason I think so is because they have different time frames for appeals filed from the outside and mine should have been done already and sent back or they should have notified me if more time was needed to make a decision. I can see why his may still be at the stage of getting the whole story. So I am going to call back later and get all of the 411. I'll keep you all posted.

Well my man called me bright and early this mornin at 9 and that always has me cheesin :D beyond control. Anyhow I spoke to a man in the appeal co-ordinators office this morning and he said that my appeal doesn't go to their office. It will either go to the visiting sgt. or the Warden and he deligates someone else. So I'm not exactly sure where my appeal is at now. I did leave a message with the visiting sgt yesterday and she hasn't called back yet. I also have a follow-up letter that I will be sending on Monday. When I go on my lunch today I will go home and post the letter so y'all can read it. It was pretty good I thought but we'll see.

By the way Happy St. Patricks Day ! and pinch your selves if your not wearing green.:D

Okay first I think that maybe you should go up on Saturday so that you guys can talk about this because there is no use dragging the situation out especially if he isn't writing or calling. You are only going to keep feeling bad and you should be able to know what is going to happen in the relationship and where you guys stand. That being said here is my opinion of the situation. I can't believe that he would treat you like this. I mean doesn't he realize that he is LUCKY to have you and that you don't have to do anything that you do for him? You do it because you want to and he should appreciate that. Also you have every right not to do things that you don't feel comfortable with and he should respect that. Hello isn't anyone going to learn from my situation? They will terminate you for the littlist things and if you have a fishy feeling then you shouldn't have to do it. The thing that struck me the most is that he said he will have another girl do it for him :eek: !! Um that would be where I would draw the line. Friend or not he shouldn't be using that to manipulate you and piss you off. And if she were his true friend she wouldn't be helping him do things that could get him into more trouble.
